When I did my first set of stairs that is what I did. Had no idea what I was doing and had never used KZbin. I just bought the sides nailed a couple of the steps to get some stability and anchored with anchor brackets to the deck. Then I started raising the whole thing up until it was level then blocked it up with concrete blocks. Some I had to dig down to set them. 20 years later and never did get them replaced 😅😅

Just a thought about your storm door. Change the direction of its opening . So when you come up steps, when door is opened it doesn't block the steps. That way you have more room on the step side.. You guys are doing a great job together

We may reverse the glass door at some point, but the wood door opens to a wall so it won’t change. I think we left enough space that we can maneuver anything in that we need and if not there is always the back door. Thanks so much!

Kevin and Kimberly awesome job on the deck. Not sure if you thought about the algae getting on the deck and steps yet. From my experience with the algae, it has gotten not only on the front of my home but also the steps and deck, on the northern side. It is very slippery when it gets wet. So be careful when going down the steps and stepping out of the house onto the deck. God bless.

Hi it is me again when u go to fis the rotten wood u need to unscrew the metal tane out the rotten wood hopefully the rafters are not rotten put on new fasher bords1x6 or what ever it is an then put the metal back on .have fun an good luck .p s I will be watching.👍

Steps in porch looks great. My question is are you going to put a facia board on the front of the opening under the steps wooden steps on slippery if your foot slides under the step you’re looking at a twisted ankle at the least you only need to post for your step railings and the 2 x 4 going down from top to bottom post with spindles in it

Just a thought.... Normally I love the look of natural wood, but I can't help but wonder if painting the porch the accent brown color. I say that because you don't have any other natural wood anywhere else.

We are going to see how it cures out, but we’ve looked at some possible stain options that we may use to make it match the other color scheme. We have to wait several weeks for the wood treatment to dry out before we can do anything with it, but that gives us time to figure that part out. Thanks for the suggestion!
