Muddy Mongoose MTB

4 ай бұрын

I returned to Braefoot to try to do the step up jump at the bottom of the M1 line. I have done it before but only a couple of times on one day last year. Since then I have chickened out of doing it again and so I thought it was about time I gave it another shot.

I always love how honest you are in your vids Donald, good to see you back out. If you have the space I'd recommend getting (or making) a manual machine and learning how to at least launch a manual wheelie. I built one and it's really helping my jump progress. Thanks for filming, Andy

Cheers Andy! 😀 I thought about building a manual machine during lockdown but never got around to it. I think that's a great idea, I think I'll do that! I could really do with an aid to help me get the knack of it. 😁 Thanks for the advice Andy I really appreciate it. 😁🤙🤙🤙

You're welcome to come over and have a go on mine and even take some photos of my design. In fact I could help you build one, I do have a mitre saw. Mind you, the price of timber these days you might have to save up for a few months.@@muddymongoosemtb9873

You should go back to Middleden Woods trails in Kirkcaldy. They've had some really good trails added. Place is so much better now. 👍

I've looked at that step and when at Braefoot and always had second thoughts, I personally find it hard getting to the right speed not too slow and crash or too fast and do the same, I overthink these kinds of jumps - can mange the table tops fine, well ridden regardless and good to see what's happening at Braefoot, thanks for sharing Donald! 😁🤙

Cheers Gary. It's not too bad, if you go fast enough you'll get up it without crashing. I still need to work on the lift technique to bring the back wheel up. I need to stand up more as I'm coming up the face of it. It's very frustrating knowing what I'm doing wrong but being unable to correct it.🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for watching mate.😃🤙🤙🤙

Perfect day and conditions there for a practice session. You know what they, say perseverance pays off! And from the tyre perspective, the WIld Enduros are really great...got them on my Nukeproof Mega, but I'm trying the new Conti's (Kryptotal/Argotal combo) on the new eMTB (they cam with Maxxis DFH/DHR2's) but they were terrible in the mud since december. SO far the Conti's are doing well.

Aessegai is an amazing tyre in all conditions. Maybe the body position and confidence is more of an issue than the tyre? Keep at it though :-)

You've got a fair point mate. Callum who has been in a couple of my videos doesn't like Wild Enduros at all he swears by the Assegai's. And Dave Bradley who is also a very good rider and has been in some of my videos also loves Agassais. It's probably a case of good riders can use almost any tyre and ride well. I definitely need all the help I can get with grip! 🤣🤣🤣It's definitely a down to personal preference and as you say my body positioning does need a lot of work, that's for sure. I do feel for me the Wild Enduros have saved me from crashing a few times by gripping in at the last second especially when cornering. I didn't have any sketchy feelings with the Assegais when the trails were dry, I love how fast they roll, but in the mud I found them a bit skittish. As you say it's probably because I'm not weighting them properly through poor body position and that's why for me I feel the Wild Enduros are a better fit for me at the moment. Probably will switch back to the Agassai in the summer months though. I know a few people who are totally rating Continental Kryptotal tyres which look very grippy too. I'm quite intrigued to give them a shot. Cheers mate. Its good to hear your view of the Agassai's. What tyre set up do you run with? 😃🤙

The Wild Enduros saved me a few times on my old bike, gripping in on wet muddy corners. They seem to be especially good at shifting mud off them. Do you think you get better grip on trails on the ebike because of the added weight, or isn't there much difference?
