Thanks for this video, B-Roll is so underestimated on KZbin. I loved how the music kicked in right before transitioning to the montage. Also, how we got shown the environment B Roll right after your friend looked in his camera, it makes it feel like we're there with you looking at what you are seeing. Another example, you putting on the mask makes us think "dope, what's he doing with that mask", so the transition to the smoke isn't random or anything. Thanks for these videos, I'm rewatching them 24/7 haha it is so dope to see someone with your level of expertise making these vids and sharing your knowledge!

Hi Peter, I just want you to know that I lost my confidence to make videos during this pandemic. But watching this video that you posted 3 years ago keeps telling me to go back to the basic, you know, just shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot and learn and gain more experience. Try to be more creative so I can have a good story for my videos. Now I'm here again watching your videos again from the start. Thanks man for the motivation

The B-Roll was an improvement, but the addition of the soundtrack had an even greater impact, imo.
@boholaesthetic34166 жыл бұрын
A great music would made a wierd boring shot looks cool
@ghostAndDarkness-o4n6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. People can always watch crappy footage with a good soundtrack, but the opposite isn't really true. I have to admit, the b-roll of them recording each other taking images, was more impressive than the actual footage they were getting of the environment (forrest and snow around 3:04). I think this is the difference between pros who spend majority of their time on the actual project/footage... and pros that specifically do it for youtube/vlogs. It's like 4 hours were spent on b-roll (i know that's what the video is about) and maybe 4 minutes on what they were supposedly actually filming. Not knocking Peter, he's awesome and love his videos....but yeah a bit unrealistic. Very informative though
@richfuller6 жыл бұрын
While I do agree soundtracks are Very important. I personally watch videos at a volume that music is tolerable. Most videographers have no clue about audio, I find. Once you lower the volume of the music to a tolerable level you cannot hear voices at all. This should be the guide line for all audio. If the music blows you away or you can't hear the voices you are doing it wrong! This tutorial is an exact example of poor audio decisions. So it also serves as an example of exactly what not to do with your soundtracks....blow them up .

Audio, and how to get audio, is something I've struggled with. You can make all this original content, but I don't know how to get audio that won't get me sued for using it, whether it's for personal/blog use or for non-profit, I have no clue.

This is my all-time favourite KZbin video. I watch it time and time again and recommend it to so many colleagues and clients. What a worthwhile investment of time and effort, Peter. Thank you!
