A lengthy preview on how open-world New Genesis PSO2 currently is. Running around the various zones of the beta. I also previewed the fast-travel system along with a changing channels system. The content of this region is currently for Level 1-15 players. They'll most likely add or extend the areas shown in the video! It's very open-world and no loading or black screen between biomes is always good.

@@zer00rdie I enjoyed old school games like Red Alert 1, Valkyrie Profile, FF tactic, Legend of the dragoon, Sonic Adventure etc. Most of modern games (not all of them) didn't give the genuine old school feel (it's very hard to explain) but this game does which is impressive for me makes me happy. The good example is *Nihon Falcom* they always makes new games with Old school feel (YS series, Trails of...)

I just do not understand how it’s free. I don’t know how they’re going to make any money, it worries me about future support. It dwarfs the quality of other games graphically and mechanically. I guess they can afford to do it free since Sega doesn’t really release much else that often? I want to support this game, it’s potentially the greatest open world I’ve ever laid eyes on. It’s juuuuust worrying me. Hopefully, what we are seeing is indeed just the base open world. And hopefully it will be very easy to code in world events/NPCs, and other things to make the wilds more interactive. The benefit to linear area by area worlds is people do not feel like they’re empty. Did the worlds in Super Mario Odyssey feel empty? They’re definitely small compared to this. Devs have a hard time creating the magic of both.

@@barkley611 It's because they will have the scratches and cosmetics plus a club membership that gives you access to additional things like extra storage or access to other things you wouldn't normally have. So yes the game will be free to play but there will be mount Everest of extras you can but don't have to pay for.

@@UltimaST7 I bought an Xbox Series S just to play it at 1080p 120Hz if the code allows me to lol. My PC already won’t hack this magnitude and graphic fidelity. I just hope they’ve fixed the menu hell, the PSO2 launch last year for Xbox did not go well because of how hard and tedious it was to do your stuff.

I'm just hoping for walls/gate guards at the settlement and seamless emergency quests where the walls/gates come under assault and players have to defend it. No game I can think of has managed to do this properly yet in an open world, mmorpg type setting.

This is obviusly Naverius. The thing would be, there's a lot of space for spanding (as ruins and tundra are Naverius biomes too), but the logic dictates there should also be other planets added. All we can do is wait to see how it develops, meanwhile, i'm expecting the release soon. Thanks for the video.

Getting closer and closer to that feeling of wanting to "be a part of the world"; watching Ragol from the Pioneer 2 and wanting to explore it's mountains and forests freely. Where PSO1 felt like there was multiple layers and literal depth to a single location (1 lively planet: from grassy surface to an alien-infested core), many of the later entries pushed for more "Planets" to act as stages which in many ways made me feel like they were lacking as a world design. "This planet can't have a Forest, since the other one does"- even though the difference in climates, biomes and cultures can lead to some pretty interesting navigation options and enemy encounter design (e.g. NieR Automata's Forest Castle vs Desert area). I'm hoping for more long-term substance and progression and less barren field flavours as the patches go on to bring the pseudo-open world map to life. Looking forward to see where it goes :)

A question from a totall pso noob. I tried out pso2 not to long ago when it came to steam and was less then impressed. While the classes and enemies were interesting the missions and quest rminded me to much of what I hated in other mmos (daily and weekly missions), so much that it felt as if it could be called "daily and weekly missions" the mmo. Knowing that would pso2NG be something I should consider looking into or is it just pso2 with better graphics?

Coming as both an update to PSO2 and as it's own stand-alone installation for those that want to save the hard drive space and don't care to be able to transition between both games in one client. But basically when NGS comes out it'll be a part of the steam version.
