It's not that. For some people, they perceive what she is doing as screaming. Now before anyone thinks that's what I'm saying, I'm not that person who thinks this. I understand the music and the culture very well, but I also understand there's a culture that doesn't like anything that's not this pristine clean sound. They are more influenced by a Western European notion of singing, which for them is a much cleaner sound than the growling/squalling sound.

I’ve been watching this performance everyday for months….. I remember this song always coming on the radio during the early through late 90s…. This makes you think about the days when the world was a different place…. It’s a shame that this joy will never be the same. May God bless Ms Brown with many years to come…..
