“The Recovery Library gave me 24/7 support because I could be up at 3am and search for the topic I was struggling with. It also helped as a couple because we could investigate topics together so it wasn’t subjective. I trusted this information because it was from professionals who also had lived through and recovered from infidelity. Double credibility in my book.”

The biggest issue for me is picturing what my wife did with this other man and how much of it we do or have done together, either before or since. That she allowed another man to love her, and herself to love another man. She was doing so many behaviors that made me feel like she loved me even while having an affair, what can she do now that would show how her feelings have changed?

Your not alone. 11 months ago I found out about my wife's affair. I've had the same intrusive thoughts. Ive bee fighting so hard to save our marriage, for our son to not grow up in a broke home but recently she got a new phone, won't turn on location sharing as before, wont block AP & started talking to him again, started a snapchat profile. All the boundrys we had set up, she broke down. Planning to co front her in next day or two and I'm going to have to walk away if she won't honor our agreements. Hope your doing better these days.

Listening to the two of you brings me back to being newly married and then going to church as a young couple, then with our two small children. I have been divorced two years now after twenty years alone in our marriage and was alienated from both of my children. There was infidelity in so many ways ( possibly physically as well - I don’t know, he lived a separate life from us, no emotional intimacy, so many lies ) I tried to address it in every way possible and he would just make it clear there was no we, us or our and my loneliness only deepened. His behavior fits narcissism to a t. That has taken me a long time to accept. I feel as if the kids and I went through a war - the war inside of him, from childhood. He has a girlfriend living with him now and I am still healing and finding my way back to my children. I don’t believe he was strong enough to do the work he’d have had to. I think it is too painful. I know how painful it is to address my own struggles, but God has never left my side. I am so glad that you each have allowed God to use all of this to not only heal you, but others

Although I would never wish this on anyone, I am thankful for your journey because it has helped me every step of the way in mine. The videos helped me have an understanding of what could be going on in my husbands heart and mind during each step of the affair. The videos also opened my husband’s eyes to men who truly knew what he was going through being the betrayer. I watched him nodding his head and saying yep, yep and yep. He said “I could listen to this guy Samuel all day long!! He is bang on!” Thank you for starting this Affair recovery program, I hope that my heartbreak will be use for something equally as helpful to others as well.

Marcus Compton praying for Ann and the horrific pain she must be going through. Been there and the depth of grief, betrayal, and horrible uncertainty is unbearable and gruesomely destructive. It is soul shattering. Men need to understand that we entrusted them with our lives. They are supposed to be our protectors not our abusers/ destroyers. In some sense, I felt my husband had fed me to the wolves metaphorically speaking. Praying she finds relief, joy, a sense of wholeness, and happiness no matter how this situation turns out. From her perspective (I am not her but some reactions seem to be universal when husbands make choices that devalue their wives) she may feel that everything she held sacred was trashed by your choices and the grief in the beginning of the necessary hell of disclosure is literally sickening. The choice a husband makes to break the trust of a wife effects everyone in their vicinity especially if children are involved. I pray that she gets the help, love, support, and respect that she deserves in order to come out on the other side of this with or without you. Finding out your husband has chosen to be deceitful and unfaithful is like finding out that someone close to you has died and you have to live in the funeral home with that person and are not allowed to leave. I hope any men who read this can really stop and think about the steamroller they have just ran over their family. I sincerely pray that your marriage will be restored and that you get help too (if not first and foremost) for the sake of your future too. Do you think that most men who choose to break their wives spirit and trust understand the depth and severity of destruction they have chosen to inflict upon her, themselves, and every single person that is in their vicinity? There is always hope so I will pray for her and her restoration and the recovery of the marriage. -- from a still married wife who still loves her husband but will never be the same but found the impossible endurance to stick around. For me, God had to make a way where there was no way for our marriage to survive. Nothing is impossible. Praying for Ann and sending her love and support no matter what she decides.

I appreciate the candor, but I think a couple of wrongs were not addressed: the betrayal of Rick towards his best friend and Stephanie's best friend towards her. What was the recovery/accountability process for this fallout? The damage was beyond Rick and Stephanie so how does that get dealt with? Friendship betrayals aren't acceptable either, right?

They just don't seem that happy or carefree, there feels like there's a lot of baggage and there's always these dark shadows. Neither one of them ever says they love the other, not once. I have trouble thinking recovery after such PTSD can ever be a beautiful end result. "What would love do?" that's what I'm trying to stick to.

thank you for sharing your story. I would like to ask a question. it's something I have been struggling with for almost 2 years. My husband (the unfaithful) still works with the "other woman " & it's holding me back from recovery. I always feel like one leg is in this nightmare as long as he still works at the same place. He loves his job & says he doesn't want to leave & we could get over this with him still there but he's wrong. Any advice ?

Hi meg, thanks for watching. We have a ton of Q&A's on this subject in the Recovery Library that others have asked me. It makes recovery much much more difficult. It will require a lot of transparency on his part with a lot of check ins to minimize your triggers and reminders. That's IF you're willing to try. For many, it's not possible for them and if that's the case for you, you'll need to draw a line in the sand for him. My advice for everyone is when it's at all possible, get a different job. Try reading this: www.affairrecovery.com/newsletter/founders/how-get-mate-cooperate
