When I moved into this 100yr old house the curtains were so old they disintegrated as you tried to take them down. They had that thermal backing which is a fun powder to clean up

Oh man... devil dust to the 1,000,000th degree

Oh my word I had a 70’s wool blend dress that had this gross grit and I assumed it was from dry cleaning but now I’m wondering if it was Devil Dust.
@StephanieCanada4 жыл бұрын
From the 70’s the chances are very high that it is.

Interesting. I only came across the term today. I was looking at a cowhide handbag with a polyester lining and the seller said it had devil's dust. So, maybe the lining isn’t polyester after all. I’m curious about why these garments need to be kept away from others, is it somehow contagious? I thought it is deterioration from age?

Thank you so much for this video! Seems to be the only one I can find. I have a 1960s beautiful cardigan and the shoulder pads were left in and have gone everywhere with the gritty dust. Guess it's time to try and tackle it ⭐

Thank you for making this video, I just bought a beautiful pair of suede boots from the 70s that have this in the lining and I couldn't find info about it anywhere else. To the vacuum cleaner I go!

I am happy to help! And I hope that have the best of luck with your boots.

I don't know why I expected devil's dust to be a metafore for glitter 😂

Can it happen with cotton? I have a black denim jacket from the 80's that has a black lint whenever I touch it. It's 100% cotton.

So when you say to keep the devil dust away from other clothes, does it cause a reaction with them?
@oliviaembry43453 жыл бұрын
This is what I'm wondering too. How does it cause other clothes to deteriorate?

I bought a super cute pair of vintage black boots and there is a ton of black dust that rubs off whenever I walk around. Does anyone have any tips on how to clean them? I think they are some kind of suede/faux leather.

Oh my gosh! I had a cute little synthetic '60s top that after I soaked it had this grainy stuff all over and got grainy stuff all over everything else. I toss everything because I couldn't get it off. Now I know what happened. I was so confused. 🤔

Sorry to hear that but happy I could help in some small way.

When looking this up online, I got info on a tv show with the same name. 😅 It has nothing to do with this though. Maybe the real Devil Dust should sue. I'm not sure if it has legs though.

Why do Americans (who as a nation usually seem quite into personal freedoms) tolerate these ridiculous rules from HOAs and actually pay for the privilege? It's like you get the same disadvantages as renting from a people-hating control freak of a landlord along with the usual disadvantages of home ownership, but people just act like that's perfectly normal? The rest of the world doesn't understand.

I tried everything to NOT move into this neighborhood for that exact reason, but I got out voted. Probably the same reason we tolerate a for profit healthcare system that bankrupts people for services provided.

I expect to be moving this year, and I absolutely refuse to live under a HOA. I firmly believe that they are in place to force an appearance of middle class conformity; to keep the riff-raff out.
@lemonadewithniecey2 жыл бұрын
@@aleciamcdonald3941 I wholeheartedly agree hoas are very classiest. It is so sad that the places that would be most practical for line drying laundry are typically the places almost completely covered in hoas preventing it. It could really help the environment but not much you can do if almost all your availability housing options are hoas. People tend to be so cought up on property values they forget quality of life

I am fearful that my grandmother's Kashmiracle coat has succumbed to this. Must be the synthetic cashmere 😭

I came to this video because the Kashmiracle coat I just thrifted has sooooo much red dust in the lining- had to throw it away :(

I AM ALLERGIC TO : WOOL, RAYON, SILK, AND POLY. I STAY AWAY FROM ALL THESE MATERIALS !!! I AM MAD AT T-SHIRTS THAT DOES NOT SAY IT IS 100 % COTTON OR SAY WHAT IS THE CONTENTS. USA SAYS IT IS ILLEGAL NOT TO DECLARE THE CONTENTS.
