Felicidade by Tom Jobim

Here is a new video edition of one of my favourite pieces!
This time we experimented with creating it in HDR format, or High Dynamic Range. This means that if you have a relatively new device, this video will look especially ‘punchy!’ The colours will be brighter and there will be more contrast and depth in the image. Fear not though! The video also looks great normally too :) If you open the video in the KZbin App on a recent iOS or Android device HDR will most likely be displayed correctly.
The beautiful artwork in the background is by the amazing Colombian artist Ledania, and the stunning painted guitar support is by the founder of Guitarlift himself, Felix Justen!

The song’s lyrics tells us that sadness doesn’t have an end, but happiness does. When I listen to this performance I get the impression that happiness is the endless one… well, at least while Stephanie is playing :)

Such fervor- such passion… authentic? Well … that’s a debatable word… Jobim would never play like that !

@@annalisa14 i'm not talking about Jobim, but a brazilian way of playing, the way we do sincopation displacing the accent, that is different than a Jazz musician would, for instance. Inside brazilian or any culture there are a full spectra of emotions, moods and ways of playing. And to me, this rendition of Felicidade is remarkable, and many brazilians would not be able to say that was played by a foreign musician

Mesmo que ela tenha gravado de um take só, provavelmente o vídeo foi feito depois, com mudanças de cena, etc E mesmo o áudio, raramente é composto de um único take. Quando muito, o artista grava inúmeros takes e escolhe-se um. Mas normalmente se selecionam trechos de alguns takes e faz-se a colagem. Quando eu ou vc tocarmos nessa pegada e produzir vídeo com essa qualidade aí dá pra chegar falando quem vê o comentário até parece que é o maior concertista do mundo ou o maior produtor criticando

I had thought that most players made sound guitars "messy and dirty" as a consequence of hitting many strings. Now, using certain fingers "clean" the sounds and make guitars compete with let's say pianos . Mastery is the key.

Stephanie is amazing, but i must note that the production and cinematography is exceptional too! This is probably the prettiest guitar video I've ever watched. The shaky camera keeps us on our toes, multiple lenses, many creative angles that change into different perspectives, and have i mentioned that the camera guy is racking focus?? Excellent performance etc., even if the HDR video did not appear to work on my iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017) as it rendered like an old videotape - low def. and blurred - looked out of focus. They are just too expensive to replace unless one has to, though, and I want another five years out of this one.

I absolutely love her playing skills, I never liked this song tho, always seems like the high notes are the actual song and the lower background notes bounce from sour, or part of a another composition entirely, or complementary. The complementary portions never seem to last more than a few seconds.
