She also has said her father was an extremely abusive person growing up etc saying he’s an awful person and went to a “magician show” where she explained a lot of the stuff that allegedly happened in her youth from her father. She also blames Jimin for a lot of misfortunes that Jimin cannot control… KZbinr from AOA Heart Attack MV who was an actor in the Video has also said that “Mina was difficult person and hard to work with.. she went and did the opposite of what the group and team were doing on set making it difficult.” This video is many years prior to the bullying allegations so they are his viewpoint entirely.

Being once the target of a person with narcissistic personality disorder, I got triggered by this story. I kind of understood how Mina manipulated events to make Jimin look evil because I've been on the receiving end like Jimin. I think what happened here was Mina's constant acting up (as backed up managers and staffers) eventually wore out Jimin's patience, and when it's your job as the group leader to keep a difficult person (as attested by managers and staff) in check for all these years, there will come a point where your patience is stretched so thin that it's easy to to pop off at that person especially in stressful situations. (that's why Jimin doesn't remember these incidents).. It's likely true that Jimin said harsh things to Mina in sheer exasperation, but Mina embellished the story, magnified Jimin's reaction and simply redacted her own part in what led up to Jimin acting/reacting the way she did. If you take away the context and simply say Jimin said these things to Mina for no reason, then she does sound evil and inhuman. That's why people should never take these he said/ she said narratives as gospel truth.

I think Hyori is a person who lives and really learns from her past. She has mentioned in, a more joking manner, about how she used to be a stuck-up idol in her early days of FINKL and how even her own members and other girl groups didn't like her because of her attitude. She said other girl groups often fought with her in the bathrooms of music shows. When asked if her own members helped her, she said "why would they? I was an asshole to them, so why would they help me?" She owns up to her past negative behaviors, understands why she reacted in that way, and she actually seems apologetic. I am sure a lot of things went down within FINKL but all the girls grew up and came to be with all the small and big issues that happened in their young age. So when I first heard about Mina's accusations I just sat here and thought that would've been very 'funny' if her accusations were also proven false after the heat died down. And voila turned this one was also false. Sadly, netizens didn't learn from this 2 cases. @AwakeningWings Жыл бұрын
It's both bullying and a mental health crisis. The youth there are not doing well at school or in life and they end up with mental health issues. It's just all-around bad. Even regulating posts won't be enough, this needs to start with society and its societal conditioning. It all has to be reworked completely otherwise things like this will keep happening and things will never change. It is so deeply exhausting having to see all this happen over and over again.

Netizens are responsible for their own fucking behavior. If you are the sort of person who dogpiles, then maybe you're just a horrible person in the first place and need to own up to that and work on being something that is actually worthy of the title of human being. Frankly, the organization kept Mina for longer than most would considering she didn't take vocal lessons, missed dance practices, was always late, mistreated staff, and did things like getting a hair transplant procedure the day before she had to go to dance practice. The more I hear about her work ethic, or lack thereof, the more I'm surprised she wasn't fired or at least demoted until she wasn't part of the group anymore. And that would be the case in a regular organization in the west too, at best someone would get laid off and helped to get disability checks because, if we accept the narrative that all the above is all due to mental health issues, then her mental health is so severe she can't work and needs to be on disability until she gets proper meds and therapy. That would be the best and ideal case scenario. (And, mind you, mental health issues doesn't excuse being an asshole to people like mistreating the staff or targeting another person just because)

Mind you, AOA members are separated into two different dorms back then and Seolhyun didn't even share the same dorm with Mina...
@p1kkuma11 ай бұрын
not jealousy towards jimin (maybe towards seolhyun though lol). sensitivity and narcissism. jimin as the leader got all the resentment for being the leader because she had to reel mina in. choa (who was a perfectionist and said to be pretty strict, at least early in their career) said mina wouldn't listen to her at all and wouldn't do things she was told to, so choa gave up on trying early on. an actor for an MV even had things to say about mina's poor attitude while filming and that she would constantly need people reminding her to do what she had to do. someone had to be the one to try and put mina in place and it was jimin, so mina saw it as a personal attack against her. mina suffers from serious narcissism in general, from accounts of her bossing managers around. people who worked with her (managers, actors on their MV's) said she was not pleasant to work with. anyway. basically i hope mina can get help and therapy because clearly she has issues.

What's even more sad is this wasn't an example for k-pop fans to stay neutral when something happens. Woojin's case came after this and regardless of all the allegations being proved wrong the fans kept on saying he was a bully and then Garam's case. People refused to think. They refused to take a look at the pics being spread of "garam" doing wrong stuff and making dirty jokes and it got so bad that Garam was made to leave the group and the kpop fans were celebrating, celebrating that a 16 year old who worked hard for years to debut. Then receipts started coming in and it was clear Garam wasn't a bully but of course the kpop community wasn't going to accept that they were wrong and just kept on making jokes and hating on her. The kpop community has learnt absolutely nothing from this sad case.

So sad to that similar thing (but worse) happened in 2010s with group T-ara.. that group was like rival to GG (girl’s generation) and that group literally went ashes after false allegations of bullying. Also the thing about historical person incident was that it’s impossible to not know who he is bc he’s considered as “hero” of Korea and he’s very. Very. I'm still surprised that you didn't talk about one of the leaked conversations between Mina and Jimin where Mina literally blames Jimin again and again and she slut shamed Jimin regarding the men Jimin allegedly slept with while she said word for word "I did this for the group, Mina..." clearly insinuating that she must have prostituted herself (probably without consent) to get the sponsors for the group. This is some of the most serious and alarming information about this whole scandal but I have the impression that everyone is ignoring this part.
@KY-jd1nl9 ай бұрын
that's because it's not really that surprising. it's an unspoken dynamic that's happened since basically the beginning of time. sorta akin to getting PS. everyone knows it happens a lot, but there's no point in calling it out. I'd guess only idols from the biggest of companies get the privilege of being shielded from having to exchange those "favors" for opportunities, but they're not the norm. Even students of those famous high schools for idols/actresses/etc. are "used" and manipulated in a similar manner by their school authorities. that's the dark reality of show business.

Now I’m realizing though that I still came out of this scandal with a negative opinion of Jimin and having no idea who Mina is. So now, while it’s not like I have reason to like Jimin, I’m just realizing I essentially irrationally disliked her simply from the VERY SURFACE of whatever issues I managed to hear about… that’s how bad the witch hunt was. I hope I can use this realization to treat situations like this more neutrally until I hear a resolution and look into it purposefully.

It was terrible. People were clipping videos of their reality show to prove her bullying. She was bullied for her rapping, her looks, everything. The only thing I have to defend myself in this, is that when she apologized, I thought she was admitting guilt and responsibility for the bullying, then I moved on before her story stopped making sense and her actions were revealed. That happens in kpop a lot tho- idols are made to apologize for things they didn't do just to save face. But I think Jimin did genuinely feel guilty for unintentionally triggering an ill person. I feel empathetic to Jimin tho because I can understand being a victim of an ill person.

15:00 I know this video is old. But I want to say that AOA's success was stagnating at the time Mina left. Lot's of younger girl groups were debuting who were in the spotlight like TWICE and RV and IOI and PRISTIN and ITZY, and the older girl groups were starting to cool down. Since AOA wasn't doing as well as they used to, they went onto the show QUEENDOM to promote in 2019, and through this experience, REALLY connected with a lot of modern kpop fans at this time, who hadn't really known who AOA was, but respected them for being seniors but also for their talent. They would release a song on the final episode of the show called SORRY, and went on shortly after to release a comeback called 'Come see me'. Come see me charted extremely well at first, especially for how AOA had been doing for the past couple of years. Something people need to understand is Mina was one of the most popular members of AOA, which is why when the bullying scandal broke out initially, she had a LOT of support from fans. So when the group was finally doing well without her, I think along with all the other things happening to her, she couldn't handle it. She thought the group would suffer without her because of how slighted she felt, but that didn't happen. And she exploded.

The reason pancreatic cancer is called the "silent killer" (by doctors everywhere not just in Korea) is not just for the low survival rate. It's because it's super hard/rare to get it diagnosed at an early stage, which is basically the reason of the low survival rate. You have to be lucky and know what you're looking for. Why? Because at first you have no symptoms/pain. Unfortunately, by the time you start experiencing symptoms/pain, it normally means that it has already spread to surrounding organs. So, most of the times when people get diagnosed it's already too late. I had to find out the hard way when my dad got diagnosed with it a year ago and passed away 2,5 months after the diagnosis. We had read the statistics and we knew it was a countdown (many patients pass away 3-6 months after diagnosis).. and yet.. everything felt like it happened ridiculously fast..
