I’m just super happy to see you back on YT! Missed seeing your face for sure. I think I started watching your YT channel years ago I think my daughter is the same age as your youngest brother if not mistaken ( she’s 16 will be 17 in October). So much has happened in my life since then and glad to see positive things happening in your life as well. Right now I’m hyper focused on working and working on helping my daughter stay focused on graduating ( She attends an Early College High School) 😂 Gotta keep the eye on the prize haha. 😂 As for anyone suffering from depression right now or have in the past. Just know you are not alone. I suffered with severe depression and anxiety for majority of my life to where I couldn’t even work for years. Well I did finally push myself and got a job at 39 yrs old! ( I’m 41 now lol ) It’s never too late to start your life at any age. Yes since I am older it’s harder in a sense that I wished I done this eons ago but I’m doing it now. Next is to work on getting my GED and whatever I want to do education wise etc. I love showing to my daughter that no matter the age you can still achieve goals in life!

Mental health is so important and I'm glad hearing you talk about it. I've dealt with depression and anxiety for 3 years and still am dealing with it and am on medication. You've become even more beautiful (if it's not weird to say). The fact that you're happier now just shines through, if it makes sense.

Hi, just to add on, the Taiwanese Mandarin you are talking about is actually Mi Nan Yu, a form of Hokkien dialect which was from Fujian province as a large number of Chinese escaped to Taiwan during the war (Chinese Communist Revolution). As dialects go, it would be one of the closer ones to Japanese. The standard Mandarin on the other hand was a collective adaptation and has 2 forms of writing, the simplified and more commonly used in taiwan, the traditional. Have fun and keep posting. Nice to see you back again.

The thing you said with you choosing your own challenges can't be stated enough. I heard it from a psychologist, basically passive challenges are challenges that you don't choose that life just throws at you, be it paying rent, taxes or covid. Active challenges are challenges you choose like going somewhere to live or learning a new set of skills(Or a new language!). They're not necessarily easier than the passive ones but difference is that you chose them. And when active challenges outweighs the passive ones that's when you feel more in control. And if the reverse happens it's very easy to feel overwhelmed. The interesting thing is if you feel overwhelmed one of the best things you can do is choose a new set of challenges to face, but it's very important that you choose them. It feels very counter intuitive to add other things to do, but most of the time the passive challenges aren't stuff you can deal with anyways and the solution to not feel overwhelmed is to find things you can grapple with and choose to.

If you paid by credit card maybe call the issuer and talk to them about it. If you paid by check maybe call your bank and talk to them about it. But I suppose it depends on how long ago you paid. If neither of these help, then maybe contact the Spanish government.

OMGG thank you so much Steph for your candid advice towards learning languages. I really like learning new languages, but I’m just soo slow when it comes to reading and speaking through textbooks and tapes (“academic” way) that I had serious concerns whether I’m capable enough. But like you, I found learning the phrases and objects that I say and use daily to be so much faster and smoother. I wish I had just trusted my guts earlier and learned in my way, but I guess it’s not too late either. I hope to catch up to you 5 (and more languages upcoming) speaker 😉 but I did have a head start in Spanish in high school so we’ll see we’ll see~~ Hopefully from the two languages I speak fluently (Chinese and English) to my choppy Spanish, I will start exploring more languages that I have a strong interest in while building friendships and concreting my skills (languages like Chinese can have so much cultural and historical significance to it that it just continues to amazes me the more I learn). Sorry for blabbering on for so long, I’m just so excited to see and hear from you on your new life, and everything seems to be going wonderfully. You seem A LOT happier in mood and attitude than you were in Japan, and everything is moving towards the good. I’m beyond grateful to see you back, Steph! And Steph, remember that no matter how it may change in the future, never changing your attitude towards life and taking things step by step will always pick you up. I hope to meet you someday, perhaps in Spain 😏 fellow polyglot. In the meantime, don’t stress too much, and try to check in with yourself just a tad bit more (though I know you’re likely to care more about your friends and fans than yourself). We’re all here for you, always ❤

I don’t really know about RVF but I kind of live by “if anything requires a down payment or fee, it’s probably a scam” mindset, so yeah, I’m usually quite cautious when a site asks for money, I’m not sure if you could get your money back but I wish the best to you hehe (also I checked online on forums to see if it’s a scam and most of them say that it is - you could try double checking the legitimacy of certain programs with reddit and/or sites that detect scam) I’m so sorry about this!!

And to the guy asking about the differences in Mandarin between Mainland and Taiwan, there's only a slight difference in expressions and vocab. The differences and unique aspects of Taiwan are heavily promoted by people who are triggered by the CCP in an attempt to create a new racial identity. The government of the Republic of China only fled to Taiwan 3 generations ago. Regional dialects of Mandarin are far more different than Putonghua is to Guo Yu. Not to mention the other languages spoken in China. I grew up in the US with Chinese immigrants in my church who came from Taiwan who originally fled the CCP from my province in 1949 and spoke my native dialect of Mandarin and didn't identify as "Taiwanese" and only saw themselves as Chinese. My university Chinese history teacher was a Hui Muslim from Taiwan who purely identifies as Chinese because his religious community didn't exist in Taiwan prior to 1949.

life has up and down, yea, knowing is easy accepting is hard. about learning language for vocabulary I think movies are the best teacher, at least for me, I never learn Japanese but watching a lots of anime make me able to listen a conversation and understand it, but downside I'm still unable to read anything 😂. chinese also did the same since watching chinese kungfu series also one of my hobby. so yea, watch a lot of movies or series, the more you enjoy it the easier you learn 😁
