In 2012 the NFL had an issue with Tim Tebow kneeling for each game to pray; they also had an issue with Tebow wearing the phrase John 3:16 as part of his blackout to avoid glare, and made him take it off. In 2013 the NFL fined Brandon Marshall for wearing green cleats to raise awareness for people with mental health disorders. In 2014 RG3 entered a post-game press conference wearing a shirt that said "Know Jesus Know Peace" but was forced to turn it inside out by an NFL uniform inspector before speaking at the podium. In 2015 DeAngelo Williams was fined for wearing "Find the Cure" eye black for breast cancer awareness. In 2015 William Gay was fined for wearing purple cleats to raise awareness for *domestic violence* (ironically what the Anthem protests are supposed to be about). In 2016 the NFL prevented the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a decal on their helmet in honor of five Dallas police officers *killed* in the line of duty. (But of course that violence doesn't matter). In 2016 the NFL threatened to fine players who wanted to wear cleats to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11 *DO NOT PRETEND THE NFL SUPPORTS FREEDOM OF SPEECH OR EXPRESSION*

Everyone should go read the US flag code. There’s an entire section on things that are “disrespectful” to the flag. On this list are : wearing clothing with the flag, using the flag in advertisements, holding it horizontally, and printing it on novelty goods. All of which are regularly done by people on the right. Notice how nowhere in this section is there anything about whether you should be standing or sitting or kneeling.

How does kneeling change any of this? So if you kneel during the anthem magic fixes you issues? Why haven't we seen what they've done to better this situation? What have these players done in the offseasons? It's now a publicity stunt, no one is talking about WHY they're kneeling and sitting, it's just pissing everyone off HOW they're doing it. Find a different way to protest. That anthem and flag gave you a black president for 2 terms what did he fix? Did M.L.K. Jr. disrespect the flag and anthem protesting racial issues, no a bunch of spoiled rich punks do. If this country is so bad to minorities then why do they continue to flee here? If it is so bad to black people then why not leave? Pick a country in Africa and move there. Move to a majority black country and you lose government assistance, minority favoritism, and you lose your multi million dollar paychecks. There are literal rules that make employers hire minorities even if they're not qualified or a white person is more qualified they get the job based on race, it's called equal opportunity. I'm a Marine veteran and I have a problem how they protest, I'm fine with what they're saying I don't disagree but how they're doing it is unacceptable. You are disrespecting a country flag and saying it's directed towards cops, how the fuck did you connect those dots?

So are you are going to stop watching football because of this..... people are going to agrue back and forth over this issue. But when the dust settle when the change of police brutality is coming today,tomorrow. Nfl players who are protesting not everyone is but the one who is to me I want to know when is the end game of this because you want people to listen and most of them don’t want to listen or care. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong of them to think that way but that’s how is now. It’s been 2 years now and I never stop watching nfl because of the protest. I love football too much. Now it’s like I don’t care about the protest because it’s all about trump and not the issue of the country. Overall nfl players can protest and they have a right to do it. But if they want to make real change March to White House and tell trump to fix it period. Nfl should just get rid of the National anthem with players on the field. This is the nfl fault for taking money for pay Patriotism!!!

I believe that the NFL has the right to protect their bottom line. They met with the players and are donating money for awareness and community outreach but the players are STILL trying to damage the brand. Police brutality is not the NFL's fault but they are paying the price. Why are NBA players not joining in the kneeling or making some kind of controversial protest or demonstration about this very issue? It was a polarizing move by kneeling. I believed in the reason behind it but I never liked or believed that kneeling during the anthem would bring people together towards progress. And people keep feeding Trump and falling right into his games. Sometimes you just have to ignore people and take away their platform. We've spent more time on his Tweets and antics than actually coming together to talk about a solution. While these two stupid political parties use it as a way to galvanize their sheep for votes.
@AnthonySmith-gf1oe6 жыл бұрын
PeeJay Brown Jr the players are doing nothing wrong. Its the people who would rather deflect from than correct the problem. Nfl bottom line will be fine. Owners are billionaires and players are millionaire. The people who boyvot or call it division are already on the side of dont care about black folk being murdered. Thats why they bring up black on black crime like white on white crime dosnt exist or is less prevalent. Crime is majority proximity, kill whose closest. Nba players dont have team ownersbor coaches telling them to not talk about it. So they have. Google popovich and how he as a white nba coach, has spoken on the issue of police brutality often to the press. Foogle the hands up dont shoot shirts nba players wore to signify the countless unarmed blacks shot by cops , most shot in the back so the cops had nothing to fear. Some even making false statements and covering body cam a to cover it up ans still get away with it. Trump made it political and more racially tense than it was when kaep was just silently kneeling. Not causing a scene like trumo dis when he called black women bitches because he said the players are sons of bitches. Forced patriotism is what north korea does. Kim jung un kills those that dont have blind allegiance to a piece of cloth. Is that america too?....

Ok, look at it this way. I see both sides as someone who has plenty of family/friends who have served in the military. I see the flag and anthem as a thank you for your present/past service and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice. As a black man in America I understand our struggle as a people. I didn't like in Kap did it even though I stood behind his reason for doing so. I just thought it was the wrong time. It would be like being in church during the prayer and suddenly start yelling about the wage gap between men and women. Does the gap exist? Absolutely! Was that the time or the place to do so? Absolutely not!. Yes, the NBA players wore their shirts but they didn't take a knee or do something that was disrespectful to what was going on. There is a HUGE difference. I can pretty much guarantee that if LeBron or someone would have taken a knee during the anthem in the NBA it would have had the same reaction from the fans. No one has forced patriotism nor was this a issue with black players until they decided to do something that was seen as disrespectful to the moment. I love my country and I think it is one of the greatest in the world (even with all of my international travels but I know it is not perfect and has it's issues. We can never work towards any kinds of solutions or changes if we can't even open up dialog and allow someone like Trump to fan the flames instead of ignoring him. Why even address or give energy to something/someone you can't change? Thus I don't post, repost, or even give him one mention in my social media. He is not worth of my time, energy, or respect.

Simple solution, if the anthem protests bother you then don't go to games, don't support NFL, don't watch any coverage. If you don't care about the anthem then carry on as before. I'm in the UK, and even I refuse to watch any NFL. 12 months and I can quite happily do without it. What ever happened to American patriotism. These overpaid and overindulged protestors should be in the unemployment line.

Sheesh, the ESPN i grew up with used to cover sports play on the field with a little fun on the sidelines, and behind the scenes. This, is NOT fun on the sidelines nor behind the scenes. This is political BS that they are not entirely qualified to pontificate on as if they "know all/tell all" there is to know. Many of us fans (with IQ's over 100) can apply COMMON SENSE based upon facts, statistics/data, mixed with a whole lot of REALITY....all by our lonesome selves. But NOT espn. Not these F'krs. Just highly paid opinions.....in search of ratings. As if CNN, CSPAN, MSNBC, and other liberal MSM needs some help stirring shit up & dragging everybody down to the gutter to fight while they, the pundits referee? Sheesh......don't think so. #movingon
@christianbozwell49816 жыл бұрын
You must have heard some truth in what's being said on this segment? See, you people are easy to spot because ya'll are driven by hatred, envy and anger. I noticed that you left out Fox News in your attempt to get some conservative thumbs up. You should hate the confederate solders and the followers of the confederate flag, after all didn't they actually fight against that wonderful flag of yours? Oh and Trumpet wasn't the president when you were growing up that's why the sport channels spoke sports only. Tell Trumpet to keep his fat nose out of sports
@kargs5krun6 жыл бұрын
"....you people, are easy to spot...." Lololol...... I wish intuition, comprehension, and an ability to infer were "easy" for "you people." Lolol......but, such is not the case. To wit: I explicitly wrote, "liberal MSM." FOX News, last i checked does not meet that classification. Connect the dots.....boi. I don't "hate" those/that which are/is dead, long past, and has little to nothing to do with me or most folk i know.....pertaining to confederate soldiers, flag n o/wise. Only "hater" here is you, "you people." Lolol.......and that's your problem not mine, from day to day, isn't it? I mean, Trump's been POTUS for almost 2 yrs now, and that's got to hurt ya badly because "you people" are susceptible to propaganda as much as any other "people." I wrote what i wrote for intelligent consideration &/or discussion if need be. I don't get the impression you're one of the IQ 100 club, but.....at least you're (somewhat) trying to be. If you can't leave your own "hate" and ignorance of what someone else is thinking/saying w/out maligning their character, then there's no point in recognizing you for communicative purposes. For example, here's a tip: If you had written what i had written in first comment, I as you, would have stated that the pundits said "yada yada which is true in my opinion and why don't you see or agree with that." This would be a convo starter, not ender. Try it next time on the next "you people" you come across and think you know WTH they're saying.
@christianbozwell49816 жыл бұрын
Since you love the American flag so much, how do you feel about treasonous people flying the confederate flag? And what is with you people attacking someone's education, have you ever heard the thoughts of conservatives? Here's a fuck'n link, ff to 0.55 >>>>>> kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3e0mappi7uHpbM
@kargs5krun6 жыл бұрын
This is why I (& others too?) won't convo with "you people"; you're as idiotic as this video u "F'kn link" to prove a point? You can't even entertain the thought(s) that: a) there are IGNORAMUSES on both sides (or any side for that matter) of politics to ridicule via videos; b) some videos are legit but some are staged as well, as in fake actors playing stooges or stooge roles; c) the MSM sole job now is to make $$$$$$ via advertising via eyeballs/ratings and the truth is NOTHING more than a COMMODITY to them. You haven't learned this much by now? How old are you? What education do you have or speak of? Did you really graduate h.s. via successful examinations completions or were "you people" passed/pushed out?? This are VALID questions to ask even if you deem them "offensive."

I truly support free speech. And i truly support the INTENT behind these initial protests. But this is the cold reality... there's a key difference between a protest and a successful protest. This is protest is officially outside of the successful category. The narrative has been changed by antagonists and the views of the protesters have been skewed over time. All while no discernable advancements have been made. I never thought I'd say this but the protest is a failure. No one is talking about what the protests were originally about. All they speak on is patriotism, the flag, disrespect, the owners and Pres. Trump. The Msg has been lost and it's been lost for a while. I think it's time to go back to the drawing board and scheme up a SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN....

@AnthonySmith-gf1oe6 жыл бұрын
BigCal 3000 the only ones changing the narrative are whites who dont care that black folk are being killed. The ones who didnt even know about it now do. They wanted to make it a national conversation. They successful with flying colors in that regard. Gotta knkw theees a problem to fix it.
@cappy22826 жыл бұрын
Unarmed armed blacks getting killed by police is a myth sooo the protest was always doomed to fail. (The facts and numbers simply do not support it). Black community needs to take some responsibility for their *own actions* and stop worrying about the white man.... it's just embarrassing and petty
