The only 2 losses was with Kawhi out with a hip contusion.

I think the OG trade is the first step in a larger plan and I was completely OK with it. They lacked a true 3&D wing, they got one. RJ Barrett even though he's still young, was not developing as quickly as they had hoped. He's not a great defender, he's an inconsistent shooter, and he hasn't developed much at all as a ball handler, still always going to his left hand. At least from what I saw in the Knicks games I've watched this year. I think it was a foregone conclusion that he was gonna be used as a trade asset sooner rather than later, because he's still in his early 20s, his age and potential gives his pretty good value. The Knicks expected it to be fighting for a top 4 seed this year, they're currently 7th behind the magic, heat and pacers. Not surprised at all that they pulled the trigger on this deal, gotta make moves now while you still got time. I don't like losing Quickley, but I don't see a world in which they could keep him and still keep all their 1st round picks. I'd rather keep the pick. I think Quickley has too much upside to be relegated to be a 6th man behind Brunson, and the Knicks still have Grimes they can continue developing. I think he's better off in Toronto. The Knicks still lack a dynamic scorer at the 2 guard spot, and they lack a big man that can space the floor. If they can get those two things, they become a real threat to Boston and Milwaukee. They need to get at least ONE of those pieces to become a top 3/4 team in the east, in my view.

This isn’t the move to put NYK above the perennial top 3 (Mil, Boston, Philly). This is the preliminary piece we desperately needed to make to guard in the PO. The reason we made this trade without including any picks is so we still have the picks in a “bigger” deal… still have a package of…. Fournier (salary filler), Quentin Grimes, and what 4-5 1st rd picks… could also include Mitchell Robinson in there for a better deal.. This was n excellent move from NYK front office!!!!

Several points Id like to make pertaining to the Knicks: -In terms of IQ, if you truly like him youd want him to start. Yes, losing him is still painful to think about, yes he has a good deal of upside and will help Toronto greatly. The thing is though, he was not going to start behind Brunson barring injury, and since IQ wanted starter money it made no sense for the Knicks to keep him. -I like Donovan Mitchell, but he is not the answer for New York. A Brunson/Spida back court will get feasted on in the playoffs, like what the Knicks did to the Cavs last year. -Using Shannon's analogy, these two are not good chess players at all. Chess is a methodical game that requires forethought, planning and some deception. If you make the right moves you will get closer to that checkmate, but if you make EVERY move with the intent to check your opponent at that moment you will lose. What theyre saying is the Knicks should not be planning, and should make big moves out the gate. That might be great in the short term, but in the playoffs the wrong move will result in a first-round exit, and the same people will be laughing at the Knicks for making a move that made them worse. SAS makes a great point though that this move will likely give Thibs an excuse to run a 7 man rotation throughout the season. Especially if Precious Achiuwa does not pan out for the Knicks.

I disagree I think a Brunson, & Spida backcourt would work because their styles are different and as long you surround them with capable bigs and wings they will be ok.. They’re already a defensively sound ball club so Spida would bring the offensive balance needed.. + Spida is almost unguardable and defensively his team has got a few dogs that can switch & run some doubles to make up.. I mean it worked for the Pistons in a more physical league with Thomas & Dumars..

Similar to Melo but Melo was a tier above spida plus could get you 8 boards a night in the playoffs and commanded double and triple teams. Randle needs to deliver in the post season. The knicks would’ve won against Miami had randle showed up. If not you need another offensive scorer / playmaker. The offense has to flow unless you have a KD or Lebron

I’m a knicks fan for 40+ years but I’m not a fan of Randle. He’s not a good leader and gives up on plays sometimes. That being said tho he is having a decent year this season and the knicks wouldn’t move him to get Spida.. Like S.A. said in this clip they have a surplus of picks they’d use as well as contract dumps.. + it would have to be a like a 3 team trade to get that deal done.. Don’t sleep o Spida tho yes Melo can get you like 8 boards a game with 35 but he was always more of liability defensively then Spida and he was not a good leader at all.. Spida is prolific in his own right at scoring and like I said the Knicks have enough defensively to make up for his and Brunson’s lack of size.. Also Randle performed bad against Miami last year’s playoffs because he injured his ankle badly and was operating below 50%..

It’s a gateway deal, in my eyes, for both teams. Raptors dealing OG makes you think they’re going to move on from Siakam too. On the Knicks side, I think it tells you that they WILL try to go out and get someone. Whether that’s now or in the off-season, it seems inevitable

Hmm...quite interesting take about New York. The Knicks front office have been taking their time to rebuild the franchise which was in a mess before Leon Rose & Co took over. They have so far put pieces together which has put them in contention and are now one of the toughest teams to play against in the East. As a Knicks fan since the 90s I'm happy with how Leon Rose and the Knicks organization has been going about their business over the past 3 years. The Knicks aren't looking to be one and done which means they will try to find the best fit and value without mortgaging the franchise.
