Sorry, defense wins games and chips. Idk if folks understand how demoralizing it is when you gotta work for every bucket and your FG% is so low because of lockdown D. That affects offernsive players' mindsets and also makes them self conscious of their effort on the defensive end if they're getting schooled. Its easier to play high effort, get in the mud defense than to be perfect on offense to the point where the other team is enduring a scoring barrage. Its not feasible to be on like that every night. But defensively, because that is effort and focus more than just having a feel on the ball, is very possible, replicable, and can be leaned on to close gaps and surmount a top heavy offensive team. The suns are not built to be defensive. I dont care how good Frank Vogel is on that end, if guys don't buy into high effort defense and perform this team is going nowhere in the post-season.

Denver ranked 15th in defense last year and still won… Warriors played small ball against the bigger, defensive-minded Celtics back in ‘22 and still won… You don't have to go out and play prime, 90s Bulls defense every night to get a ring these days. As long as you can get the necessary stops and make the necessary adjustments, offense-heavy teams can beat just about anyone you throw at them. The last 7 games for the Suns have proven this. Mount up the points, build a lead, get some stops to maintain that lead, and make adjustments when the opposing team goes on a run. Vogel is running that team masterfully right now.
