Once we have established that fact, on one hand we had Doncic, who at the age of 18 was the MVP of the EuroLeague (2nd best basketball competition in the world after the NBA) and was bossing grown professional men; and on the other hand we had DeAndre Ayton, a very exciting prospect who was dominating a league where 95% of the players never make it pro. Stephen A is totally right at the beginning. Dirk was great for a long time and he brought a chip to Dallas in the end. But the most important move in Mavs history - if he stays there and injuries notwithstanding - will be trading spots in the draft to get Luka. The Hawks have to be kicking themselves incredibly right now. Trey Young has performed above my expectations but they could’ve had a guy who is more than good enough to be the best player on a championship team at 21. Cuban and the Mavs have shown they’re more than willing to get anybody they can to stay in it when it makes sense, so if Luka stays happy there and doesn’t get hurt they’re gonna be good for a long time again.
