@LunaticTheCat6 ай бұрын
I bet the Blazers experiment with a twin towers lineup, especially if Ayton manages to successfully extend his range even more like he did during the previous season. The Blazers aren't anywhere close to win now mode, so there really isn't any risk for them to experiment with some very big lineups with possible elite defensive potential. They could even start Deni Avdija at the 3, who is 6' 9", and is said to be a very good defensive player with great fundamentals, and according to some analysts has the tools to become an elite defender. That would be a BIG front court, and if things go right, and Scoot develops into the solid defender most believe he can become, this team could be a problem on defense. Of course, that's a lot of ifs, and all of that is to be determined, but even if Ayton and Clingan don't workout together, and Clingan shows himself to be the better player, then Portland can still trade Ayton, especially if he still looks as he did last seson.

Clingan by a mile. He’s 2 years younger with way more upside. Moves his feet better and can run the floor and is a really good passer and rim protector. Way better looking shot too, wouldn’t be surprised if he extends his range as he gets more experienced, kind of like a Brook Lopez type player(who turned into a great defender and good 3pt shooter). Edey is clunky and was just way taller than everyone in college. He will get exposed in the NBA. He’s basically another Boban Marjanović.

If Robert Williams stays healthy, Blazers have a really legit rotation at center. Williams is also athletic enough to guard the 4, and him and Clingan would lock the paint down. Both great rim protectors. And Ayton excels on the other end and rebounding. Ayton could get traded though, he would fetch some first round picks and maybe a role player. But I like all 3 of them tbh. Blazers have a lot of talent. They should trade Grant for a couple more FRP’s and then run Deni and Camara at the 3.

Ayton was putting up 20+ and 10+ rebounds nearly every game the second half of the season. He was dominant when he got going and had a good FG %. He’s not a good rim protector though, so Clingan was a solid pick.

@darthrain58956 ай бұрын
I totally agree. Ayton did good at the end of the season because by then most of their offensive weapons were injured or sitting out so by default he had more chances to score. Murray was the worst throwing up enough bricks to house the huge homeless population in Portland. They hardly had anybody else. Ayton is lazy, inconsistent and has no passion for the game. He's not a good long term option. That's why they needed Clingan.
