I really enjoyed this , as a ex SA Bandsman I still love the music and listing to Steven Cobb how the S.A Bandsman world is going to change was very helpful . Keep up all good work guys .

Wish there had been some sharing of a truly Spiritual nature where in other churches the corps bandmaster would be seen as the MINISTER of Music. I think that all church leadership must be SPIRITUAL leadership.

A very interesting discussion and grateful for Dr Cobb sharing his thoughts. The point of the 'corps band being under threat' is very true due to the changing ways in which corps worship and expect their 'band's to participate in meetings. In many instances, the songbook/tune book is the connecting point between the band and congregational worship, and when songbooks/tunes are rarely used in meetings, the purpose of the band (as is traditional in meetings) is threatened. If (primarily) banding no longer accompanies congregational singing, then banding needs to be repurposed...

Could You Tell me Stephen, Having had David Dawes as Solo Cornet In Our Band At Greenford, Under the Leadership of My Dad, B/M Alan Barrett, whilst His Mum and Dad Were Corps Officers there, Have You Ever Heard a Better Solo Performance than Davids Rendition of Norman Bearcrofts "Golden Slippers" at the Royal Albert Hall?? I often listen to it on You Tube, and I know,Having Played in Greenford Citadel Band with David and His sister Carelle in our Very good Small Band, that My Dads help With Davids Cornet Teaching was Very important to Him, as David Will Tell You. I am Proud to have Had The Dawes at our Greenfird Corps?? Former B/M Andrew Barrett. Much Thanks B/M Cobb.

Is a focus on celebrity/top SA band players what Jesus would want our main interest to be? A form of idolisation? My view is no.
