Interesting how Mr. Houlgate criticizes Spinoza for determining the substance through the axiomatic (even mathematics are axiomatically determined) and isn't bothered at all by Hegel's speculative method!?

The whole point of Hegel’s “speculative method” is to free us from axiomatic thinking.

You are either Spinozaest or not a philosopher at all, according to Hegel. Spinoza controversy is a well known phenomenon in the pre-Kant's German philosophy.
