I'm studying to become a literature professor and I strongly think mr. King is one of the greatest writers of all time. I wish someday people stop labeling him as just another commercial author.

Not all his books are scary and he gets this reputation as a horror author. I agree some of his non horror stuff is incredible I’m reading revival right now and it is amazing

i have never read a stephen king novel and thought "this is a horror novel". not once. it seems to be a PR angle that stuck. plenty of his plots deal with fear, but don't all "suspense" "mystery" "crime thriller" novels have the same elements of build up, tension and violence and/or threat of violence? most of my favorite works of his would be more correctly classified as fantasy.

One of the most influential people in my life. I started reading his work 2 years ago and he made me fall in love with story. I had seen and loved IT and Tommyknockers as a child and loved them but the wealth of knowledge this man puts in his books is worth an academic degree. Long days and pleasant nights

I applaud Stephens patience for having to put up with the same old tired questions about alcoholism and drug use. What a wasted opportunity for an interview.
@brianhill7905

I was thinking that too. They always ask the same old questions. It's a good example of how primitive the average person's brain is. They operate on a few basic points and are incapable of thinking outside of the box to come up with interesting new questions or even enough brain power to care to. Most people's brains are hamster wheels.

Years ago, my mother (who has never read any of his stuff - or seen adaptations of his stuff) asked me why I enjoy reading King's material. Why pay to read all those scary stories? I mentioned Tommyknockers and Langoliers (science fiction type stuff) and Dark Tower series (western type stuff). I enjoy the common theme with a lot of his stuff: Here's the good guy. Something terrible happens. I root for the good guy while expecting him to lose. Against what seems like insurmountable odds of survival, the good guy comes out on top as the winner.

Steve's a bright guy and he doesn't mind tough questions about his childhood or addictions as long as they are presented in an intelligent way and without spite or a dig. If he had been asked a dumb question like - 'how do you / did you become a writer', I think he might have flipped a little into an equally dumb response. Well done for a decent interview - ask a leading question and then let the guy talk - Stephen Sackur did this.

6:55 Cmon... did you really need to get that sound bite? It's literally all over the internet and has been for decades. I could already hear his answer before King even said it. At this point it feels like some running bet between reporters... "got a king interview coming up? You gonna go for the how do you write so much, or the where do your ideas come from questions?" "Probably, but first I've gotta set him up with a question that'll make him say his "what messed you up as a kid?" bit."

Do ghosts have double mind and if these ghosts would show up would they bring the whole lineage with them? Shining has some murder scenes. A dark skin man hears Danny and shows up - if the sequel of the Shining ends right, would Danny start seeing this lineage brought on by this man who got killed but was he dead already? The only reason he died in the book and in the movies is possibly due to the fact that he died the same way years ago, maybe it is the only one that appears in the lineage to everyone in the future. Maybe, this man was already there at that hotel years ago and was killed the same way. What does Mr. King think?
@meggy8868
@meggy8868 2 жыл бұрын
The fact that he is interested in the origin of evil, is the beginning of a wisdom about God. Evil is within, you never have to teach children to be naughty. Evil is also without, that great diabolical person who is at war with God, Satan and his minions. Mr. King, read or listen to Malachi Martin. His Hostage to the Devil is very informative Also the movie, The Quarry hits some of this truth, especially that of Christianity, without being saccharine..

King is one of my favorite authors. I enjoy his prose.. his gift for story telling.. but in his old age he's become much more preachy in his books .. politically especially. I don't pick up a King book to read about his politics and unfortunately I've had to put a few down due to this particular issue. I truly don't give a fuck what his political ideology is.. tell a good story and leave the preaching alone. I read to escape from all of that bullshit.
