When it comes to the art of storytelling, few do it better than Stephen King. His success began in 1974 with "Carrie." He has since written more than 50 books, selling more than 350 million copies. For over 40 years, filmmakers have turned to King's library for inspiration. King joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss "End of Watch," the final part of his bestselling Bill Hodges trilogy that started with "Mr. Mercedes," and why he is concerned about Donald Trump's candidacy for president.

I love Stephen King's books. As a high school senior in 1975 I found the book "Carrie" in a garbage dumpster and I've been a fan ever since. At this point there's only 2 Stephen King books I haven't read yet. "Finders Keepers" and the one mentioned in this clip.

Apparently he didn't grasp his mother's lesson on "if you don't have something good to say... Yada yada yada" . Also venting in an interview on current political views and issues is completely different than dragging it into something as long term as a book. Bad form I'm afraid.

Also his daughter is interesting too I wish there were interviews of her or he talked of her. I’m so interested in his life. I hate when authors, actors, and other entertainers use their fame to spout political opinions. It would be nice if they could separate the rhetoric from their professional lives. For instance, how would you feel if you went to the doctor and, while treating your condition, your provider ranted about the latest political topic or election results. The doctor can rant about politics on his or her own time, but not as part of their job. Stephen is using his "public" Twitter account to make political statements and then using an interview about his book to do the same. It's just not cool.
@clumsysandbocks5650
@clumsysandbocks5650 7 жыл бұрын
He was asked a question. He had to answer it. Furthermore, what's the problem with it? There's nothing morally wrong with it. It's worth noting he didn't go after Trump in his novels, but only on twitter. For this reason the Doctor analogy doesn't hold up. Twitter is a public forum and it's the perfect place for celebrities to voice their political opinions. Sure, Trump himself uses it all the time.
@tpawsplayground
@tpawsplayground 7 жыл бұрын
MewCat100 Meanwhile a lot of other people seem to feel that if you aren't using your power as an influence to help liberate....then your wasting your presence in the celeb category. So...given your logic, celebs wouldn't be able to intervene or get involved when something you don't like happens. So therefore you couldnt complain if it happened to you and you suddenly felt they needed to stand up for you. A change of heart may then happen.
