The thing that impressed me the most about Christine was that it begins in the first-person, then the middle of the book switches to third-person, and the final third of the book goes back to first-person again. By the way, I go to the Monroeville Mall all the time. That was where Arnie and Leigh were watching the ice skaters right before she choked on the hamburger.
@darkwitnesslxx3 жыл бұрын
Christine is very under-rated. It might not be his best story wise, but its among his best for narration. The Dennis sections, and the Arnie section are distinct and among my favorite dual narrative.

"all 13" Dark Tower books? is that just exaggeration for comedy's sake? Or are there five secret books that only you know about?
@darthtrip71884 жыл бұрын
@@megadev9099 Well, there's 8 novels but I included some other books/short stories tie-ins from King. There's also some comics King did that are directly related to The Gunslinger, The Little Sisters of Eluria, etc...but I haven't read those yet. I hope this makes sense to you.
@megadev90994 жыл бұрын
@@darthtrip7188 Sure, I understand. I've read them all, I just wouldn't count the others like that.
@darthtrip71884 жыл бұрын
@@megadev9099 I guess I really should edit it. To be honest, I was hesitant to count it as 13 instead of 8 back when I first commented this but it's true, there really is only 8 novels. I shouldn't count other tie-ins and such.

It's nice to see that someone else's copy looks even more dishevelled than mine. I got mine second hand and I love it's quite an old copy. It has so much more "character" than the newer editions. Hi from Germany!

First 2 mins of of your video is talking about page count because some people don't understand publishing and different book editions... don't stress out about those people. Or, at the very least, don't spend a lot of time (especially at the very beginning of your book) addressing those kind of complaints. Your review was top notch but I almost left because I didn't know how long the page-count explanation was gonna go on. Anyway, I just finished reading this book and I agree with your review 100%. This is one of the best King books I've read so far. Some people prefer the large cast of characters (like in The Stand), but I prefer his books that focus on a handful of characters: The Shining, Pet Semetary, Cujo, etc. Christine is now a part of that list. Thanks for your review, I'm now a subscriber. I enjoy seeing what other people thought about the books I read... completely backwards to how reviews are supposed to work, I know lol

Great review. I didn't get the sense that Dennis was happy at the end of the book or had long to live before he gets hunted down and killed by Christine. Wonderful analysis relating it all to obsession. Christine is definitely one of my top 10 favorite Stephen King books.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Adored this book, finally got around to it. Was a fan of the film before, and I love how deep the book goes into all of the main characters. Very different nature of Christine's source of power tho, still getting over that drastic difference. Longest book I've read and it didn't feel like it, brezzed by and couldn't put it down!

Good review of one of my favorite books. However, in your review, you seemed to delve more into a review of the film as opposed to the book. In the book, it wasn’t actually the car that comes alive, but rather the ghost of Roland Lebay that inhabits the car and eventually possesses Arnie. This was a huge difference between book and film, and some of the scariest scenes in the book were those of Rolands rotting corpse inhabiting and driving the car.

@FINALSTANDFOLEYOFFICIAL5 жыл бұрын
Great Review Frosty, Do you think that King should return to the Christine story in the same way that he did with The Shining in Doctor Sleep? Would you like to see a 2nd Christine story set years and years after the 1st? Do you think a story like that could work? Keep being awesome.

Unless there's an interesting twist, I think Christine is q stand alone novel. To be honest, I never thought the Shining needed a sequel either.
@messinalyle40303 жыл бұрын
I thought that Dennis's and Arnie's relationship was more complicated than you did. Yes, there was some pity involved on Dennis's part--maybe even some subconscious disgust at Arnie's "loser"-ness. I'm thinking of a specific scene where Arnie burst into tears in Dennis's car, and though Dennis held him, he was made so uncomfortable by this that in that moment he "didn't want to be his friend." Maybe partly due to toxic masculinity and partly because he didn't want to be associated with Arnie's inability to "keep it all together." But when Dennis got home his younger sister playfully roasted Arnie behind his back and Dennis wanted to kill her, because he could still feel Arnie's tears on his shirt and he was feeling protective. Perhaps another reason why you thought that the friendship was mainly based on Dennis's pity might have been due to Dennis dating Arnie's girlfriend. But I didn't think that denoted Dennis feeling any less affection for his friend, so much as it denoted Dennis's selfishness, immaturity, possibly his attachment to his own social status (which he could further cement by dating a pretty girl like Leigh) and basically his failure to apply "love" as a verb to his relationship with Arnie even though I think he legitimately felt it to some degree. Also, at the end, I don't remember perceiving that Dennis felt relief at all when Arnie was killed. I only remember his grief.
