This BBC World Service adaptation of Stephen King's novel is primarily adapted from a successful stage play of the time - but of course most will be familiar with the film version... These days most people likely know Miriam Margolyes from her raucous appearances on the Graham Norton show, but as this play demonstrates there is certainly more to her than a sweet old lady who says rude words a lot...

A fantastic adaptation... Unnerving, bleak and claustrophobic. And unlike other stage plays, more in line with the novel than the movie. Miriam Margolyes gives a brilliantly domineering and threatening performance as Annie!

Miriam Margoyles is so creepy in her role as Annie that it gave me shivers. Great adaptation of a brilliant book.
