Yea hugging is usually the way dogs show dominance, my old dog wasn’t a fan, but I have a very nervous dog now who seems to relax when I hug him when he gets agitated, so I think it could be a personality thing. Just like some humans don’t like being touched, some dogs.. or most dogs don’t like hugs.

Mary Clark - well, Golden Retrievers are known for being cuddle bears, so I think this puppy had been frightened by something in the studio. Just look at the other one, perfectly settled and happy.

N - that's probably due to the fact that, as she had been taken too soon away from her mother - puppies should never leave their mother until they are at least 8 weeks old - she has certain issues with being held. Poor little thing must have felt so lost without having her mother to snuggle into.
