Great interview Jason...love your interviews. I've known Stephen since I was a teenager (53 now) my sister was part of their beginnings in Hollywood. He's family... He is such a good dude...so talented, so many great songs. It makes me happy to see him w Kristi, best thing to ever happen to him. They are the best band to come out of that era....I may be biased, but song for song, nobody touches them. I was with them every step of the way. If I was their A&R guy at Atlantic, they would have sold millions more. As far as I'm concerned, Atlantic gave up at Reach for the Sky....but that album (1988 when bands were getting huge on ballads and sing along choruses) had MANY hits. Atlantic didn't push I want a woman at all, they had a big hit in Whats it gonna be, Bottom Line, but the monster hit could have been I Want To Love You Tonight...THAT would have been HUGE! Amazing song, ballad like, but still rockin, and THAT is what was goin on that year. Detonator as well, many great songs but no push from Atlantic. I love Warren, just text him the other day....nothing would make me happier than to see them all play live together again. I wish everyone could just step back, remember all the great times and the mark they made on music.....forget all the bullshit, and do one last killer tour for Robbin. I know he wouldn't want it to fizzle out like this....Go out, play a bunch of the EP.....and dedicate the tour to KING!

Would love (and would fork over $$$) to see a proper RATT video concert footage release from that early 84-91 period! I don't care if it's DVD, Blu-ray, online, please just make it part of your live release! We only have a handful of songs in the form of bootlegs and RATT deserves better.

Each interview with S.P. is better than the previous; and that's hard to do. Great job guys. I've been a RATT fan ever since their club days. Stephen, when the E.P. is re-released please include the original version of "You're In Trouble". I still have my LP of the original E.P. and also the import, which included "You're In Trouble". I love that raw, in your face intro! Thanks again for the great interview. 👍

@@JCStorm76 I understand the hate. It stems from people wanting their favorite bands to stick around forever but only live in the narrow box of "the good old days". People hear an album that doesn't sound cookie-cutter like the old days and the hate begins. The same thing happened to a lot of the bands from this era. That being said, I think both R99 & "infestation" are solid records that are worthy of the RATT name and legacy.

No. Disagree Lyrically the song was kind of a put down to women, the times were changing and a song about "you'll never get over me girl" wasn't going to appeal to females or corporate radio programmers. The hit single on this album was "One Step Away" but the record company didn't even try.

I'm a 54 year old fan. When I was 16 or 17 years old I bought a cowboy Les Paul custom. I believe it was a 1970's model. It was a natural wood body with black pick guard and gold hardware. I was told it was used by a member of Mickey Ratt. Not sure who. Could have been Jake. It was someone who wore a belt as the back of the body had buckle rash. Back then I'd never heard of Mickey Ratt as there was no internet and info was gotten through magazine interviews and the band Mickey Ratt to me was urban legend. Regrettably I ended up selling it. Long story but the bottom line is that I love Ratt music as well as Stephen's solo stuff. His style is the common thread that shows throughout the era's of his music.

Great interview! Pearcy can be a little boring and repetitive in interviews, but Jason Green asked the kind of questions that fans would be likely to be curious about. The section where Pearcy rates the Ratt albums was very insightful. I also seem to agree with Stephen to a point on his ratings of their albums; except I think Infestation is much better than he gives it and credit for. It was also very interesting to hear about the general direction of the band and who influenced it at specific times. He mentions how Dancing Undercover was largely under his and Robbin's creative control. That album is my personal favorite and I must say that the band was definitely the best when Robbin had more of an input in the overall direction of the band even with great song writing contributions from the other members in the band.

Loved his book, never really knew his music. I think he is a brilliant storyteller, real 80s hero. I listened to some of Ratts songs. Pretty cool n kinda underrated music from that scene.

Not in the Music business, so just my amateur thoughts! Until the end of time...publishing fights will likely end all bands especially back then. Maybe instead having a non-writing member in the band...hire a musician and put him/her on a salary + bonus. Even if all members are great writers, too many cooks in the kitchen will always lead to conflict. Someone will always be “out of the money” compared to others. I also thought Blotzer’s drumming was quite creative. He personality is another matter. Lol...he was a big part of the Ratt sound. Replacing the drummer effects a band more than people think. Can’t fault something for wanting to want to contribute to songwriting especially when it was so lucrative back then. Even if a new idea comes in from a non-writer and it’s crap, they could feel, warranted, or not, the others want to keep as much publishing dollars as possible. Give the Non-Writers a small piece, keep the band together, and avoid that conflict. Still not sure if this would help most bands, but it would certainly help, and keep a few more around. Just my thoughts. Great interview Jason.

Jason. The Carolinas need a piece of the RATT race. Can you look at bringing Steve to Harrahs Casino in Cherokee or maybe The Orange Peel in Asheville NC? Last time I saw Stephen was a RATT gig in Charlotte with robby crane, Carlos, Stephen , Warren and Bobby, I believe that was the line up. Ok, enjoying all your content bro. 👌
