I literally dream of experiencing something like you experienced in Wray. The video, the music, everything is just exceptional. Thanks for sharing

Thanks Ben. I used to have tornado dreams a lot more often, but not as much recently. This isn't some dumb setup for saying that now I'm LIVING the dream - just an odd piece of trivia.

I agree. It's one of the best tornado videos I've seen ever. There are a few really good ones, this is one of them.

I usually don't like music added over these kind of videos because half of the fun of watching them is sharing the excitement of those actually there. But this time the music won. Great editing.
@StephenStormLog7 жыл бұрын
Haha thanks Slayer. I totally know what you mean about audio from the event. I always have a hard time getting good audio without a lot of wind noise, but I'm hoping to try some ideas this year.

A lot of people get excited about tornadoes but for me the most breath taking is the circulation of a super cell before a tornado might form. Those wall clouds are insane and massive and unpredictable and when sped up I'm just speechless watching it unfold. How are you not shitting yourself sitting under a wall cloud?!?!
@StephenStormLog7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert. If you haven't seen this one, check out kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3vbXmWQqsd-hKcm40s. That wallcloud was really rippin.

Absolutely gorgeous video and some of the best out there from this day. I re-watched 2:50-3:08 dozens of times...just incredible positioning and camera work. Ahhhhmazing. Sub'd.

+See Mike Chase Thanks so much! I still can't believe it happened. Way more luck than skill! :) I do love that I'm still noticing something new every time I watch the tornadogenesis lapse.

I love soundtracks, and I love tornadoes. Always wanted there to be clips like this. This is perfectly executed, love your work!

Much appreciated Nathan! Sometimes I think I force the choice in song with footage too much, but then the rare one like this just flow together so easily.

I've been watching several videos from this storm; you seem to have the only footage of the twister approaching. Verrryy nice.

Thanks Joe! We were lucky to be positioned about 3/4ths of a mile from the main highway it tracked north on. Most folks either got a south-only or north-only view. We were lucky to get a little of both. Totally lucky though.

Oh man thanks so much niko! I've also loved the Oblivion score and tried to resist using it for any ol storm chase. But we got so fortunate with this Wray timelapse that I figured it was time to use it :)
@nikoflow_fm95413 жыл бұрын
Stephen Henry Yep, Oblivion’s OST is an absolute masterpiece. objectively must ask out of curiosity, how did you get those moving time lapse shots (like at 1:06)? PS, intense tornado just struck Shallotte in NC... keep them in your thoughts
@StephenStormLog3 жыл бұрын
Hey niko sorry I totally missed this question! I have a 1 meter slide rail that has a pulley and stepper motor that slowly inches the camera along the track. Some slide rails are pretty complex and lots of different companies sell them. I bought one from Konova back in 2013 - mostly for it's simplicity because I wanted to be able to set up and tear down fast on a chase! Been using it ever since.

What camcorder are you using for around the 2:45 shot on? Amazing quality.
@StephenStormLog8 жыл бұрын
Thanks James, it was actually my trusty GoPro Hero3 Black shooting a picture every second, then touched up in Lightroom and put together into a timelapse.
