I thought the same thing until last night. The guy in that big ass poster behind him is waiting for him. Stephen's style gives fighters multiple takedown opportunities. He's just been good lately at defending mediocre takedown attempts i.e. rory (which shocked me how weak rory's attack was...not so shocked Stephen defended those.) It seems it only takes one good takedown for Damien and the fight is over as of late. I wouldn't bet money on the fight that's for sure. Either way, both world beaters and I predict the fight happening.

Instead of saying "well i hope they give me the title shot, we'll see" say something like "im on a 7 fight win steak, spanning over 3 years, i've beat the #4 contender, #3 contender, #2 contender and #1 contender, and i beat most of them handily, in a way they havent lost in a long time. I'm one of the most marketable dudes in the UFC, my fights are as high energy and entertaining as anyone. Give me the damn title shot, no one has deserved it more in the entire history of the UFC, this is an outrage that the fight vs Woodley isnt already scheduled...etc etc etc".

+PrecisionWrittens I absolutely agree, what I'm saying isn't at all that he is scared of woodley, it's just that from a promoting perspective their are ways he could increase his chances of getting the fight as soon as possible if he wants. That said for him it probably does make sense to stay as the polite respectful good guy cos that's his thing and he'll probably get the fight soon enough anyway. If he becomes champ he will be in a situation much like woodley's with the number one contender being a guy who has very good chances against him (Maia) and then we'll see if he wants money fights though I doubt he'll be as much of a coward as woodley

But hes so captivating in the octagon he doesnt need to be that vocal outside of the octagon, all he needs is a little push from the UFC hype machine and its all down hill from there. The sport has taken a backseat to the show. Pros and cons for each. The pros are that really exciting match ups get made and we get classics like Diaz McGregor 2. Downside is that we don't necessarily see the best fight the best. With that type of model, I don't think we'll ever see a GSP or Anderson Silva again. What made them great, especially on GSP's side is that he fought the best of the best in his division constantly. One top contender after another and he made them look like amateurs for 25 minutes straight. I think this is all just a byproduct of the UFC becoming bigger and bigger as a promotion.

I personally don't think it's ridiculous for Woodley to be calling for a money fight. Do I think he should defend his belt against the #1 contender absolutely, unfortunately this is not a perfect world. I hate to say this, but I think the belts in the UFC doesn't mean as much as they use to and I hope to god that I'm wrong about this. MMA fighters are beginning to think like boxers, a sport in which the fighters have no problem dropping a belt to either avoid someone or take a money fight. This is the UFC's fault for allowing certain fighters to have their way. The UFC and particularly Dana White have always shown a bias toward certain fighters. For example, who was Dana always praising? Penn, Hughes, Franklin, Liddell, Anderson Silva, GSP, Ortiz ( before they had their falling out of course) Jones (The BIGGEST DUMMYY IN MMA HISTORY and before he got into all this trouble), RR, PVZ, McGregor, Sage, and Brock. And what is the underlying factor behind this? MONEY!!! The only think Dan White cares about is having fighters that he likes at the top of the food chain and fighters who are marketable. McGregor was allowed to take 2 money fights and he is a champion who has never defended his belt. Does this seem fair? Absolutely not. In conclusion, the double standards exist. Why should certain rules apply for one set of fighters and not the other.

Thompson is a great person and his skill level is of the planet . Thompson would pick tyron apart in 3 rounds or less . Tyron is a tunnel vision fighter whom relies to much on that power shot . The same thing happen to one of the all time greats THE ICE MAN . Chuck who is a Awesome fighter kick boxer and could not be submitted he just sprung up from the floor every time . But towards the end he relied mostly on that power shot witch most unfortunate was his down fall in the cage . Tyron looks the same . But has not the record chuck has . Look unfortunately for Tyron he isnt like a Conor or GSP that can be the big money fight by themselves. It really doesnt matter who either of them fight it will sell lots of PPVs and Tickets. Sure depending on the opponent it might sell a little more or little less but a lot nonetheless just because it would be Conor vs whoever or GSP vs whoever,their fights would be huge regardless. Tyron on the other hand doesnt command the same star power so he would need someone else that is a money fight on their own to literally give him a money fight. So,now that Tyron has a belt he can start to become a money fight on his own if he does a good enough job marketing&promoting himself while also winning a few fights with the belt. Hopefully that would be enough to make the UFC take notice so the UFC gives him a push as well. Tyrons first order of business should be to fight Wonderboy and if he wins against Wonderboy then that would be a start to maybe becoming a money fight by himself. But,fighting Wonderboy is a huge risk and Tyron knows that. Tyron figures before i lose the belt i better try and get a huge money fight b4 i hav2 defend my belt,because Tyron knows that Wonderboy isnt a good matchup for him and Tyron most likely wont win.

I agree Tyron calling for a super fight at this point in his career is ridiculous. Conor won the belt and then was given a shot at RDA for the 155 belt. That sort of made sense because Conor smoked the 145ers and KO'd the 8 year champ in 13 or "Turteen" as he says seconds...so it made sense since he had the two belts in cage warriors to go and take a shot at 155....but then RDA pulled out, so Diaz stepped up and it became a "money fight" Conor also is a FAR bigger name than Tyron. I get what Tyron is concerned about...a very short career and the pay being shitty so he wants the big pay day...i can sympathize...but where would he be if Lawler was like..."Im not fighting Tyron I want the money fight..." Tyron lost to Rory and really other than Robbie has very few signature wins. He needs to fight Wonderboy and if he wins Maia...if he wins those two fights THEN...I think he has a right to say he will wait for the "money fight" realistically that is like 8 months from now and two wins and he IMO earns the right to sit back and await a "money fight"....right now that is a ridiculous request. In fact I do not think there is a "money fight" for him...he hasnt really proven himself. KO'ng Lawler and decisioning Gastelum and Ko'ng a fading Koscheck in the past 4 years is hardly a "money" fight resume.

UFC is becoming so similar to the World Wrestling Federation. You can compensate being a mediocre fighter in the ring by doing a lot of trash talking to get title shots. Rankings don't mean anything. One of these days Vince McMahon is going to upgrade his organization to MMA standards, by incorporating jujitsu and karate moves in his fighters. It would still be fake, but the general public is not that smart to figure out or does care. That would make the World Wrestling Federation a more serious competitor of the UFC than Bellator.

Wonderboy is a great fighter who arguably should be the number one contender for a title fight with Woodley right now. Unfortunately, guys like him have a huge problem -- they're as dull as mayonnaise outside the octagon, and as a result, they can't bring in huge PPVs off of their boring personas. The other problem for WB is Tyron Woodley is equally as dull, making the dance between the two somewhat of a risky venture for the UFC, in terms of spending big $$$ trying to promote it. This WME era of the UFC is all about recouping on their partners' huge investments. The days of spending millions on promoting a fight from the corporate angle are over.....$4 billion was just dropped......these cats need to make huge profits now....they need entertaining fighters to head these PPVs that are just as skilled in building and self-promoting the fight out of the octagon as they are at bringing the heat inside of it. If either one of these two turkey w/h mayo sandwiches, or any other hotshot MMA fighters out there, want to make the big $$$ like Conor and Nate, they'd better learn how to put on exciting fights in the octagon, but more importantly, learn the art of creating evolving drama that makes fans want to spend their hard-earn and time on must-see PPVs series and live ticket sales. It's simple -- study guys and girls like Chael, Conor, Ronda, Joanna, Tito, Nate, Kimbo, and Bispin, see how they're able to flip a switch and suddenly demonize their opponents, forcing the fight fans to pick a side then follow through to see the anticipated outcome. Study these people carefully, then take your own unique personal qualities and skill sets......if it's exciting and raw, the UFC will eventually invest in you because they know they too will benefit from it. Now you've created a character that people can believe is real and are willing to spend $$$ on, even if they have no idea what the outcome will result in. And like Conor and a few others, you've have formed a trusting partnership with the brass, because they know your brand is a sure winner.

Sometimes I wish WB wasn't such a nice humble guy. He needs to come off as a likeable heel like Connor. He needs to be talking smack saying "I'm the UNCROWNED CHAMP! Tyrun is a paper champ who wants to run back in the house because the neighborhood bully is at the playground beating up all of his friends!" Maybe throw some accent in there from wherever he's from to spice it up. I like WB a lot but he needs to take on a new persona because he has the skills to back up whatever trash he wants to talk. He could make himself a millionaire with a few personality adjustments, IF he can make it believable. The fans would eat it up. As he is now he is just this awesome asskicker who's too unassuming.
