That is *actually* the worst. Because that means you have this item that, if you use it, will harm you, and you can't easily get rid of it to be able to pick up a new item.

The blue shell is not the worst item to get in first place if you don't use it. It's indestructible and serves as a great defensive item. It's also great when someone overtakes you.

Why do you need other items when you have the ultimate defensive item? If anything, I'd say the worst item is probably the banana.

Stephen, when the AI is behind they go faster and when they are ahead the go slower, it was an tactic to make the AI more challenging to all player levels without taking up too much space on the cartridge.

The funniest thing is, I remember being better at MK64 when I was younger too. I got my N64 back not too long ago and tried to play MK64 -- completely failed hardcore. It is a mystery of the universe.

I always thought that Toad's Turnpike on Extra (Mirror in other Mario Kart Games) was the hardest Track in the game, and easily goes into the top 3 Hardest MK tracks ever. I don't know if it is just me but every time I hit a car I get comboed by another one before I can even drive. As far as 15 minutes past the game has started no the game doesn't immediately end the game

Your choice if you want to keep track of points for all of the cups, but one thing to keep in mind: the point system is not standard across the Mario Kart games. For example, in this game, you earn 9 points for a first place finish. But in Wii, you earn 15 points for a first place finish, and you also earn points for every place except last. So, it would be a little wonky to have points carry across, but then again, we're only determining a winner by wins.

10:43 funny you mention that stephen i was just rewatching the series and did keep track of the points. I ignored the battles for this as i had no set point system for it and believe it or not, if you went by total points you actually won by 35 points Stephen: 954 Mal: 919 (Assuming of course i made no mistakes in calculations, and again not counting the battle points, will come up with a score point system and respond)

I agree that in game points should count, and it should not be 1 point per cup. This greatly reduces the likely hood of a draw, not to mention, the numbers will be much bigger.

just searched it up and peach is the top tier character on mario kart 64 because she is in the middle weight class but she has an acceleration rate almost the same as yoshi and toad. Yoshi and toads only flaw is that they are really light and get knocked around, but peach doesnt because she is a middleweight.

Stephen, someone should tell you by now that the game cheats... the computers go faster when you are in first to make sure you have trouble winning, and they go slower when you are behind so that you can catch up... in this case, Mal was in first and you were in last, so they were going crazy fast to catch up with her, leaving you in the dust...
