It actually makes perfect sense for you to be stopped completely by a tree, even the more stick-like ones like palm trees. Cars tend to... not go through large wooden objects that have been planted into the ground, like trees and telephone poles.

The thing is, you knock telephone poles out of the way easily in GTA. It's just the trees that don't fall over. To be fair, though, that's also accurate to IRL - telephone poles aren't rooted below the ground as well as trees are.

Man I remember when this series started I would anxiously be ready to get out of school to watch the next episode of this rooting for Stephen to defy the odds and beat Mal. Then they end up tying and we had to wait for 8 to come out on WiiU? Now that was a great cliffhanger for me.

When people tie, the game gives it to the person who placed higher on the last race. Also, when you swerve around corners, there is a visible sign of when you're going faster. It starts off as white "v"s and then changes into white "E"s, which change shades to yellow and then orange. When the "E"s are orange, you're going the fastest you can go. And, my money's on Mal. She's got this!

I love the ending to this game. Still hands down my favorite awards ceremony, particularly if you get 4th (that's the best!). Also, love royal race way, can't wait to see it again. Also of note, this game has super cheaty rubber band AI, which is why no matter what you do (even the super shortcut on koopa beach), the AI will always be glued to your ass. All cars behind you are faster than you, and the AI can pretty much teleport.

I don't know if you know this, but, when you hit a banana, and you don't immediately spin out (swaying back and forth) you can tap the brake a couple of times and your character recovers (indicated by a music note).

If you were wondering why the AI is fast or catches up faster is because in MK64 they had "rubber band"" which in a racing game means when the AI is behind they get faster till they catch up to you regardless of stat bonuses/negatives.

So, the score after this episode is Stephen: 0, Mal: 0, and Draw: 1. After taking over ProtonJon's BAZ streams out of nowhere as of late, Draw decided to move on to other prospective fans. Keep going, Draw. We're all rooting for you. #TeamDraw Now that the obligatory joke is over, let me also add that giving both players a point serves the exact same purpose as NEITHER player getting a point. It's just that the final numbers would be larger if both players DID get a point when compared to the final numbers if neither player did. It's the same reason that Mario Party doesn't award a bonus star if all four players tied somehow (usually, Happening Star is the only one to have that happen) - since all four players would have earned one, and that does absolutely nothing to the overall ranking, NOBODY gets one ("and when everyone's super, no one will be" moment, anyone?).

In the Mario Kart games in the event of a tie, 1st player takes priority. I'm pretty sure that's how it works in all the games. So, Stephen was in 1st place because he was using the controller in slot 1. That's how the game handles it.

Mario kart 64 Handles scores like this - first they Count who has most Points - then they Count who had the most victories (placing first) - and if you had the same amount of victories the one who had the last one will win. Thumbs up so stephen can see this :)

I played so much of this game; I can't believe that you guys think that shortcut on the beach is hard! As a kid, I learned to jump through there without a speed item. It was also on 150cc, which I heard, on occasion, there were slight changes like the shortcut being easier. I'm also guessing that you two won't be using the wall-hops on Wario's track.

It was first player that got first place. In order to handle tying with AI, the games always have prioritized player one, then player two, then three, then four, then AI, in case of a tie.

If you tie I'm pretty sure it always gives it to Player 1 because in Mario Kart Double Dash!! I did a Grand Prix and tied with a COM In single player it gave me the trophy instead of a tie

You guys should do it by lead time, who ever beats the other person by the most total time to break a tie! So Mal won by 7.1s first track, Stephen by 1.69s second, then Mal by 1.93, Stephen by 0.86s the last 2 tracks, making Mal the winner by 6.48s overall!

I think that the tie breaker should be based on the average finish over the four races. Mal had an average finish of 2 and Stephen had an average finish of 2.25.

All Mario Kart games reward players for catching up to the person with the most points and punishes the GP leader if a catch up occurs. For example, Mal was in the lead with 18 pts and Stephen had 15 pts before the last race. When the final race ended, Stephen got enough pts to tie with Mal while Mal didn't get enough pts to keep her lead. As such, Mal was punished with 2nd place while Stephen was given 1st place. Everyone, thumb this up so Stephen and Mal can see it.

In the earlier Mario Kart games, the AI was rubber-banded to whichever player was furthest ahead in the field. On the other hand, they can only use bananas and stars in MK64.

Perhaps not in Mario Kart 64, but in most other Mario Kart games the heavier players (Wario, Donkey Kong, etc.) are typically faster but have less acceleration. The lighter characters (Peach, Toad, etc.) have the highest acceleration but lowest top speed. Then there are the middle ground characters like Mario and Luigi.

Betting on Mal to win because she will paralyze Stephen with nonstop Peach voice. Also, the heavy characters have a better top speed in practically every MK game (not sure about the handheld ones), so that's why DK and Wario caught up to you. It's probably best to use the Golden Mushroom in bursts, instead of (what you were essentially doing) rapid firing. Kinda looked like you weren't going as fast as you could of... idk, it's been a long time since I played MK64.
