Well Mr. Johnson, as a kid (I'm 22 in july) I never seen any of the men around me cry. Only the women. And only when an important woman in their life was gone, would I see them cry. I cried... a lot. I'm glad I read this comment from a 64 year old, as a 21 year old listenin to the same damn song. Have a good day sir

Nobody sounds like this guy - no over-produced, autotuned bullshit just a voice, a guitar and a whole lot of hurt. I discovered him from his cover of Stand By Me and then I watched the entire Print Shop set and then couldn't stop searching. His interview on The Print Shop was so wholesome and honest as well, what a beautiful guy. I love it when we find these diamonds.

The amount of grief we experience is equal only to the love we know. The greater the love the greater the grief. What a privilege it is to know grief. Those who've never known grief have never felt love. I love you all.

Well, that is one more year down. Last night was a lonely one, as many birthday nights have been these past few years. I miss them all. My twin brother, daughter, family and friends, brothers killed in war....and the list seems to go on... Again there was no cake, no candles, no singing, but my birthday wish was the same, no matter how futile. I hope some day....I find out where all the love goes. I wish you all here in the comments...nothing but...peace and progress.

But she did it, and we made it. It all ends up good for good peope, and whatever you're going trough right now i just pray wont be strong enough to keep you from seing and enjoying the good parts of life! God bless friend :)

Lost my dad 2017 from a rare virus, lost my mom to cancer at 21. I would did anything to hear these words and song when I was at my darkest hours. This song helps me actually start to grieve. No parents, went thru a divorce and all I really had was me to pull myself off the floor and fight back against my loneliness. This song already brings me so much strength. Hang in there brother and remember your dad truly loves you and is very proud

This man is our generation’s Stevie Ray Vaughan. A voice somewhere between George Thorogood and Tom Petty. A sound right in the middle of rock and country with the only other guitar on earth I’ve heard sound as deep as Willie Nelson’s Trigger. This is some otherworldly-soulful music. Wow.

29 years since I lost mine. Still cry. I will forever remember where I was when I first heard this. Was driving... As the song went on I clearly remember saying "Wow" twice.... The first was "I miss my father everyday. The kind of pain I pray don't fade away." The second was " I don't feel like crying, but I still just keep crying." I am still amazed by this song, and the chills still come with it!

This song found me at the right time. Losing someone close to you during the holidays isn’t easy. It’s good to remember that the intense grief we feel is the heavy recoil from an intense love we shared. The blessing is the life of love we shared. The real tragedy would have been never having shared that love with them. - Til we meet again.

My friend sent me a link to Stephen’s cover of Stand By Me and I was so impressed and moved that I went looking for more and this song’s title caught my attention. The song and the performance itself surpassed the title. My dad is currently in a bad way with lung cancer. I was heading home to be with him the day I got sent the link. Songs like Hometown, Father’s Son, Hang in There and this one are so relevant to everything that’s going on right now that it feels like I was meant to find this album when I did. It’s become the soundtrack to the last week or so of my life and at times has made me cry, but it’s also given me hope. It feels like the most important album I’ve ever listened to. Thank you Stephen Wilson Jr. 🙏

This is the best description of “aged” grief I’ve come across. Fresh grief feels much different but that line, “I miss my father everyday, it’s the kind of pain I pray don’t fade away” is right on the money. Grief starts to feel comforting after enough time has passed. Super well written, 100% human song

I lost my dad nearly 20 years ago. Now I’m married, have 3 kids and I still find times where grief is overwhelming. Often it’s when I’d give anything just ask his advice on fixing something or a relationship issue. But I hear his words, his voice often. Glad I had time with my dad because I know many who never got to know their dad. This song perfectly expresses what grief is. It’s a love I have for my father.

This is a powerful lyrical song that causes any person to reflect and remember why many of us resort to music when we hurt, in sorrow, or exaltation. I deeply loved my father. However, our relationship was definitely an horrible experience for well over 35 years and until he died. Now my grief of that is love that’s got nowhere to go.

This helps me so much. I struggled so much during two miscarriages this year when noboby except closest family knew I was pregnant. It felt like I wasn't allowed to grief because it was both in early pregnancy. This song helped me shift my perspective and allowed me to grief.

That guitar riff is just so hauntingly beautiful. I discovered you back in May and am beyond grateful. You instantly became my favorite artist ever. Your creativity is truly on another level. From the hieroglyphics that represent each of your songs to every single nuance of your sound delivery, I just can’t get enough. Keep it up SWJ! Can’t wait to see you live!
