June 5th, 1994 I turned 18 and was invincible. July 22nd, 1994 the driver of an 18 wheeler ran a STOP sign and I crashed into it breaking my neck and becoming a quadriplegic, teaching me I was indeed, not invincible. Thank you for writing and singing such a great and meaningful song.

This guy just time traveled me back to being a teenager. The 90’s were the best. Pager on vibrate and headphones listening to grunge. Incense and candles lit. Smoking on the roof and sneaking out while all were asleep. Shewwww buddy.

I love those kind of songs. Great job! Chords and lyrics below folks! You can play it in Standard tuning, I think his guitar his guitar is tuned about 4 half steps down. Be sure to not play the high e string in the chorus or it'll sound a bit off with the chords Verses C / C / C / C F / C / C / C / C F Chorus Dm Em F / Dm Em F / Am Em C F / C (+ / F in 2nd chorus) Bridge Am G / F / Am G F / C / C / F / C / C / F [Verse 1] I must admit I felt the flame Kurt Cobain, a Fender Mustang MTV brought me up "This is your brain on drugs" I won't forget that first girlfriend That got me into Boyz II Men I grew up a lot that year My sweatshirt said "No Fear", ha [Chorus] My life was a stereo and it was everything First one in line for the "Last Dance With Mary Jane" Hiding in my headphones, laying on the bedroom floor 1994 [Verse 2] Tell mom, "See ya later Don't be blowin' up my pager When the show's over, I'll come home When that is, I don't know" Teen spirit in the air Before we all owned cell phones Study hall, passing notes Yes, no or I don't care [Chorus] When my life was a stereo and it was everything Soundtrack, first kiss out at the roller rink Hands held, two hearts falling on a hardwood floor 1994 1994 [Post-Chorus] Think you know it all when you don't know any better Tell yourself you're gonna live forever Fire's burning and I'm still holding the torch From 1994 A year to be, hey, a year to be young A year to be, hey, a year to be young A year to be, hey, a year to be young A year to be, hey, a year to be young A year to be, hey, a year to be young [Chorus] When my life was a stereo Back when my life was a stereo Back when my life was a stereo and it was everything Soundtrack takes me back through all those memories Hiding in my headphones, laying on the bedroom floor It takes me back to the days when a song was worth so much more 1994 1994 1994

Dude is really good. I was 41 in 1994, so I come from an older view of that time, thinking about my little kids and such. But music is always the common denominator, meaning so much to people decade but decade. Good stuff like this is timeless. When you hear and feel the truth, you keep coming back.

Stephen transcends his influences. His lyrics are heart to heart gut wrenching first love infatuation technicolor vision quest magic. And his guitar work knits so closely to the words that it makes you stop breathing so you don’t miss a single note. An artist this good comes along once in a century. I hope he dominates for the next 25 years

1994 I was 11 years old. I had no idea who Kurt Cobain was honestly, I learned music by picking a cassette tape on a store shelf, and usually one I could afford from doing chores. My life then was riding a bike, carrying around a stick, and playing matchbox cars in the dirt on hill front of my grandparents house. RIP to all those gone the 80s and 90s were hell of a time to be a kid! or to be alive, I love today, but nothing matches 80s and 90s it was a totally different time to be alive.

Hi Stephen, I was like many others a huge fan of Kurt's Cobain's music and always will be. In the year 1994 I was 33. It was the year Grunge died with Kurt to some degree. It is worth the memories as your song takes us back to those days. I am hearing the influence of the Boss in your voice, but it is still you singing. I am wondering if you ever listened to his Album, " Nebraska" ? I have the 33. I am betting you have heard it ? We could never have enough exceptionally talented and special Musician's such as yourself. You are the best at writing what is relevant, thoughful, and real to and for our time in history. That is such a gift. Thank you so very much Stephen for your awesome Music !! ❤ Best wishes from Steven in America's Dairyland Wi. !
