Using my totally verified PHD in psychology, I would like to diagnose a new form of trauma; PPTSD; or in other words Pikmin Postulated Traumatic Stress Disorder. The PPTSD was first observed on video through the man we know as Stephen-George; Victims of PPTSD have spasms of ramblings, often break out and cry when remembering massacres of their Pikmin comrades and often complete tasks that could be considered "dangerous" in the slowest, most meticulous way possible. As of current the cause of PPTSD is unknown, but based upon our current evidence, PPTSD is caused by many things;1. Watching the entirety of your Pikmin crew getting rapid-fired to death by a machine-gun wielding spider,2. Having no control when you watch the very Pikmin you helped build up die in front of.3. Being chased by sentient blob using a steam roller.4. Having a Vietnam moment via exploding rocks.5. Having said dying comrade Pikmin dying in your hands reciting " O Captian my Captain".

After closer observation, we discovered that the PPTSD can be intensified by having to pass through countless other traumas, like everytime a Yellow Pikmin passes by water remembering how so many died in that location, or when the word "steamroller" makes them think of an extra-dimensional creature called Waterwraith and the massacre made by a giant Empress Bulblax. Also, we have discovered a possible de-intensifier of the PPTSD, called EPA; or in other words, Easier Pikmin Adventure, a medical treatment Stephen George was submitted to and can now live normally with a non-intense version of PPTSD. (if you didn't noticed, Easier Pikmin Adventure is Pikmin 3 Deluxe)

I meant to tell you this last time but I forgot, the quicksand doesn't actually kill anyone, they just kind of sit in the middle. I'd like to remind both Stephen and Mal, that they once said "dungeons aren't that bad" and "I feel more stressed on the surface" Pikmin 3 is WAYYYY easier. It does the survival thing so it's story is better as well.

Honestly at times the randomised caves in 2 can sort of feel like repeats and get a bit samey, not to mention you can sometimes skip some stuff depending on the situation. Also some of the challenge in 2 outside of the boss enemies are throwing hazards at you that you have to work around in awkward ways. Stephen also mentioned that they rejigged the above ground from areas in Pikmin 1, spending lots of time going underground rather than a split between both. I enjoyed Pikmin 2 for what it added and the unique direction it took but it did sort of take the day system, survival aspect and feeling of wonder when you discover sprawling new areas by focusing on repaying a debt for however long it takes mostly through cave hunting. IMO everything in 3 felt distinctly designed within each area and you can plan to get as much done as possible without randomised stuff. Also the Mission mode has lots more added than just the story mode. I felt content wise it was fine and didn't drag when going for all the fruits, introducing new areas, enemies and Pikmin at a good rate throughout the game. The story mode certainly is easier than 2 but it has challenge more when the game gives you more tools and abilities to most efficiently complete the game or get the best rank on missions, requiring lots of skill and coordination to do well.

Not gonna lie, it's nice to hear you get your gripes with the game off your chest, and even though I've never played for myself, I've seen it played a couple times now and I'm inclined to agree - a lot of the game being caves takes away from it more than it adds. It's still got the humor, it's still got the mirth, and the more laid-back pace due to lacking a permanent timer is nice, but the thing is, above ground has less treasure than your average dungeon, so most of the game is dungeon-diving. And the random generation leads to a lot of really rude floors - see: the Bulbear that ate 8 guys through a gate. I'll say some stuff wasn't handled in the best way (the proper response is *never* to panic), but a lot of it wasn't exactly avoidable, and sometimes it can be hard to draw the line on where "helping and advising" becomes "backseating and demanding." All the same, overall your teamwork has been pretty good, and I hope the last two years have helped you guys...recover.
@Xenorvya2 жыл бұрын
I can see your point, but like someone else said in the comment section, the random generation is not 100% changing everything, it will still have the same amount of enemies, just different placements for both enemies and treasures, the map "theme" (rust for example) will often have a very similar layout every time you play but with different sections. Personally, I think the cave system is great, makes it much less boring than Pikmin 1, there's so much more content, there's no time limit, and it really isnt as hard as everyone says if you take your time to think how to do something. After all, it IS a strategy game. I manage to beat a lot of caves with 5 or less Pikmin deaths.

22:45 Pikmin as a series has had it's ups and downs, each game has it's own quirks that can make or break the experience for diffrent people. Pikmin 1, while a great game, has it's fair share of problems, the Pikmin AI is at it's worse, throwing pikmin is slightly awkward with the slow throwing speed, but it's a game that's full of charm and personality, it's the first in the series, and I love it but it's not prefect. Pikmin 2 is bassicly Pikmin challange mode, it takes the gameplay of Pikmin 1, and expands upon it, Pikmin 2 is MUCH harder, as I'm sure everyone knows, but it trades the time challange to another, instead of working under the pressure of the clock, Pikmin 2 is bassicly "so you think you're good at Pikmin? Well let's turn the challange up a few dozen notches" Pikmin 2 tends to be the favourite of people who've mastered the mechanics of the first game. The big problem people seem to have with pikmin 2 is the caves, and yes they do take up most of the game time, but people tend to make the random generation sound more then a problem then it actually is. Sure, when you reset the game, the layout will change, but the enemy types, the general hazards and other things will stay the same, that Bulbear is still gonna be there, the Submerged castle will always have bulbmin to help with hazards, the one floor in the cavern of chaos will always have a ton of dwarf bulborbs and a few groinks to deal with, the locations may change, but the challange of the floor will stay the same, there are also quite a few fixed layouts in the caves of the game, snagret hole level 1 always has the feather in the tree house, that one crazy level of the subturanian complex (grammar) will always have thay weird spiril layout, gluttens kitchen has the train room, not to mention the bulborb room in the hole of heroes... sure, the spot the treasures in might change, but it's not 100% random like people complain about. If Pikmin 2 stays your least favourite game in the series, fine, I don't care, people have opinions, what am I supposed to do? Some people like to relax and have fun, others enjoy getting the perfect run, it's just how it works. I spent most of this talking about Pikmin 2... well, it IS the game you're playing... As for Pikmin 3, well, you'll have to find that out yourself if you ever recover from Pikmin 2, but I'd guess you'd definitely like it more then 2, and heck, I like it more then 1, but that will have to wait for now, If anyone reads this far, or if Stephen reads this, I'm sorry my favourite game has traumatized you for life

@LucaBlaLP7 жыл бұрын
So, since this is very close to the end, I'm gonna draw a personal conclusion for this Let's Play. I know you through Chugga as you appeared in a few videos of him and once where I was bored I looked up your channel and saw that you just started a Let's Play of my favourite game: Pikmin 2. And you were playing it blind, which was even more special because I've never seen a blind Let's Play of it. In the beginning, I really enjoyed this, but it got worse towards the end. I'm aware that at some occasions, this game can be very difficult, but I (as a rather practiced player) never got annoyed by the dumb things you sometimes did (it's blind, so it's a part of it), but rather your (meaning Stephen's) reactions to it: I can't stand watching how mad you get when Mal does... well, just anything. A good example would be 6:30, I just fell like this screaming isn't "fun" anymore, but rather serious and angry, another example was the last episode where you called Mal "crazy" because she had a plan different from yours. To me, that's beyond entertainment and it's just hard to watch you yelling at her like that all the time (but maybe that's just me?). I think that you, Stephen, can't derive any fun from this game and you're just playing for the sake of finishing it, that's the biggest reason why I started to dislike this. Mal however is different. Sure, she probably plays worse than average, but whenever she makes a mistake or something, she laughs and is not worrying about it. If Mal would've done this LP by herself, I'm sure I'd have liked it better because you wouldn't have criticized every single move she made (even if you say it's not backseat gaming - it is, and it's terrible). I feel like she's actually having fun with this game, while you act like your life depends on this game. Then there are some gameplay-issues, for example that you're progressing very very slowly, for one because you always want to kill every single enemy, best example is sublevel 5 of this cave: You lost half of your reds fighting fiery blowhogs even though the enemy that had the treasure was a fiery bulblax. So why kill the enemies that can't hurt the red pikmin, the captains and the other pikmin (which were safe at base). Because you were so slow, I watched some episodes in 1.5 speed, because I probably would have fallen asleep otherwise. A reason for this might have been the comments, that spoiled a lot for you, like the roaming enemies. I hated how you always looked out for those so thoroughly, even though there are only 2 of those in the game and they play a very minor role. I think because of the comments, you were very scared of this game and weren't able to enjoy it and discover it yourself. In my opinion, it would have been better to record this in advance so that the comments couldn't spoil anything (after all, we are also able to beat games without tips and tricks from the internet, so you should be too). At last, you sometimes forgot a lot of things about this game, there were some occasions where you asked "Have we seen this already?" even though it wasn't a that uncommon enemy or even a pretty iconic boss. I would've liked it better, if you were more passionate or devoted about the games you let's play. So yeah, I hope this criticism is somewhat constructive, thanks for reading =)
@Jiozak7 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you, lucabla. Coming from someone who has never played Pikmin, I started watching this LP in order to see what the game was like. At the begining, like you said, it was very enjoyable. But, Stephen has gotten so bad with his nerves that I actively _avoided_ this LP for a while, as it wasn't fun to watch at all and just made me tense and sometimes *_angry_* at Stephen. I have no clue what his reasoning has been that makes him think he should act all anxious and tense. Like you said, _his life doesn't depend on what happens in-game_ .
@TheGrandMasterPotato7 жыл бұрын
Well said. Though at this point I'm kind of apathetic toward Stephen's reactions and not even that critical of their gameplay, which is still quite poor even at the end of the game. I wonder how this would have gone if they never received tips from the comments? Did it speed up their learning, but also make them unreasonably cautious of other things? But Stephen and Mal live pretty busy lives, what with Stephen doing LPs of other games and editing, and Mal with her painting, so I can't really blame them for not remembering some details. And as long as he's having fun, I think Stephen tries to devote himself to the games he LPs as best he can, but this one has definitely sucked his soul out and used it to wipe its ass.
@Athados17 жыл бұрын
I thought this episode he was a bit better about how he treated Mal, but there were definitely a couple episodes where he really needed to stop. When Mal fought the Raging Bloyster, I definitely considered that his worst reaction yet. This is definitely not the most frustrating game he's ever played especially after the issues they had in Chulip, but I feel like he takes this one much more seriously than other games for some reason.
@ParadigmRiki7 жыл бұрын
To be fair, the game's dungeon generator is pretty bullshit. That said, however, it's no excuse for Stephen to backseat play this game to an extent to almost verbally abuse Mal. I avoided this LP just because I knew how bad Chuggaa had it with this game and that it was a Stephen and Mal Lp. I'm only watching this episode to see how Stephen snaps. Yeah. It wasn't as entertaining as his usual "snaps"

to be honest, I thought Stephen was going to Yell at Mal in this episode based on the title and the previous episodes, where he shows no respect in the moment

Don't worry mal I am pretty good at pikmin and I always mess up camera angles like u do. It is tricky

After this you guys should check the piklopedia for all the enemy names and descriptions along with all the treasure name.

I believe that this game causes Pikmin PTSD. At least Pikmin 3, whenever that gets covered on this channel, seems like it'll be less stress inducing.

OK! so, there's a thing called homebrew. you can use it, to play games with patches. well, there's also some patches to pikmin 2! it's really cool!

Stephen! Such language! I know you're upset, but that's no reason to be dropping a "Bl*ss your heart" into then video. More than once, too! I thought this was a clean channel. ;P Also, Stephen, you sound like you've simply lost your mind while Mal sounds relatively calm. Almost zen. Edit: I love the story and feeling of Pikmin 3. I hope ya'll don't wait too long to play it.

In terms of ranking I would go Pikmin 1, Pikmin 3 and then Pikmin 2 last, the dungeons just aren't that fun to do. Also ha ha poor Steven, Pikmin 2 finally made him snap and he wasn't even playing this episode.
@BigHailFan2 жыл бұрын
the dungeons are the best part. putting 3 above 2 is a crime.

21:45 - 22:50 Oh my god, YES!! This is EXACTLY why Pikmin 2 is my least favorite in the series. Pikmin 3 is MUCH better, IMO

In this episode, Stephen for a short while goes insane. Then he is calm for the rest. The cave is also a huge troll and is actually more problematic than the Hole of Heroes. Wow. Also, when this is said and done, do a Piklopedia video for your reactions, and Pikmin 3 is a lot less stressful. It brings Pikmin back to it's *roots* .

I gotta say, I Love pikmin 2 out of all the games
@sharktrooper11507 жыл бұрын
Also one final tip I highly suggest you guys take this number of Pikmin with you Reds:20 Yellows:25 Blues: 20(because there is a floor that is going to spawn on a tree stump, with water, the Gatling Groink/Artila fish, and wallywogs. Whites 15 And Purples:20 Also you guys only have 5 more floors to go. One tip for the final boss only use your yellows with one captain and the other hide behind the geyser with the other. The boss uses a ranged water attack that attacks literally anywhere on the floor including the geyser. If you want take 30 yellows and 15 whites. Good Luck and God Speed🤞🏿👍🏼✌🏿👍🏼👍🏿

Ok, it's almost over, but I have to say it now ... the sub-levels are NOT "randomly generated"! The layout is fixed. Enemies are fixed. Treasures are fixed. The only thing that changes is the position of the exits/items/creatures within the respective sub-levels to add an element of unpredictability.
@Meta2897 жыл бұрын
Not quite. Each floor has a "list" of possible rooms it can be made of, and when a floor is generated, it takes those rooms and organizes them in a random fashion.
@SamuelDHerr7 жыл бұрын
If that is the case, then this "list" is quite limited. Or it knows it's ME who's playing and creates the same layout every time to make me feel at home.

For the Final boss of this game/cave, take your YELLOWS and fight with them because the boss uses electricity quite often. As for the rest of the party, TAKE THEM AND HIDE BEHIND THE EXIT GEYSER because the boss has an attack that can hit ANYWHERE on the map, so hide the rest by the exit so you can call them easily. PS This is the same strategy Emile used during his Pikmin 2 Lets Play,
