Amazing to hear this again. I played this when I was in 10th grade, on either regular or bass clarinet... 38 years ago! You kids who are playing it now will learn a lot from going through this grief! It's definitely a counting piece as someone else commented. It's all about juxtaposition and balance, some incredibly lush sonorous sections with some very strident ones. If you're playing now, don't stop. You never lose the thrill that making music can bring.

Man, I miss that song. OnTopic: Wow! Great posture, focus, and playing! Especially for a Middle School band!

Very nicely done.... I played Eb soprano clarinet on this in the7 th grade back in 1974. We got a 1 at contest. Haven't heard it since..... nice walk down memory lane :)

Well done Stephensen Middle !!! It certainly is nice to FINALLY see a middle school band who knows what the meaning of "posture" is. Back straight and feet flat on the floor. I can't believe the number of times I have seen even HS bands where the band student is "slouching" in their chair. Actually there is no need for a back on a chair while performing anyway. Kudos to Maestro Goins. Appreciate you teaching the kids proper posture. Keep up the good work.

There's a lot of good teaching going on in this band. The students played in tune, and the ensemble had a pleasing balance. Nehlybel's Festivo has been called "Greatness at Grade 3 Band Literature." You played it very well.

Bravo! For a middle school to play a piece like this so well requires major skill. I congratulate you on your outstanding performance. Oh, and anyone who believes this song is easy doesn't know Vaclav Nelhybel's work. He never wrote an easy piece in his life!

our band played this. this song is such a classic. we played it at a festival along with two other songs and got unanimous superior =)

i played this song in high school my junior year, and i had just switched instruments from the sax to the trumpet. I did pretty well, and it was a piece of cake. but i agree, it does need to be faster. but good job on the piece. Vaclav Nelhybel's work is VERY difficult. if you haven't played this song, then don't comment.

LMAO, I decided to google my middle school band. I'm somewhere in the trumpet section here. David (2nd chair) had a huge head so it's hard to see any of the more attractive (myself) band players. It was pretty lit. We earned those superiors. Mr.Goins is actually amazing. Had I continued orchestral music I'd have loved to still be a part of this. Very, very superior work coming from him. I still remember all our crazy practice hours and coming home to practice the pieces. I hope there are some Jazz band vids.

My band got this piece at the beggining of the quarter, were doing pretty good, just like you guys did.

You guys should really be proud of yourselves, you handled a difficult piece extremely well. We played that song when I was in high school -- 10 years ago now -- and I'm pretty sure you did it better! Great work :)

isnt the beginning sound suppose to be fff ? itsh an ok song i guess... we have to play it at the district festival this year. AMS symphonic band. imma 7th grade bassoon player and clarinet. its not that hard...

Same. xD It's very hard.
@mxrocker14916 жыл бұрын
They are playing much slower than the piece calls for, which is understandible because of the age of the preformers, but they rushed like hell in the beggining. other than that, ill give it an Excellent.
@kyogregroudon17 жыл бұрын
Oh, hey, I go to your school. xP Flute right here. I know you. Heheheh. The beginning is just fortissimo. And it's easy for you because you only get long notes. ;_;
