Basic unagi and salmon rolls are what my family is used to doing. We don't do it often, actually haven't done it in years, but it was certainly fun. This is mostly because my family's the kind of family that makes the 'younger ones' do the work when it comes to this stuff, so you back then, you would have me, a 15 year old kid, and my cousin, a 16 year old, rolling the sushi for like 8-9 people. It was definitely an interesting experience, and I remember constantly washing my hands after each roll I made cause the rice would stick to my fingers, I would eat the rice off my fingers, and I would have to wash my hands to maintain sanitary kitchen conditions. Good times, good times.

I absolutely adore making homemade sushi though I can only make non-fish (i'm allergic to fish. I know it sucks.) I tend to make cucumber and carrot maki rolls and anything with mango and avocado is delicious. I also love making Tamago Yaki Sushi Omelette, super simple and there are plenty of guides on how to do it properly online ^^

Never attempted homemade sushi, but I do regularly get myself some pre-made sushi from the Kroger store where I work, and it's made by professional sushi chefs. My personal favorites that they have are the eel avocado roll, the sushi burrito, and the creamy shaggy dog roll. The last one has tempura shrimp in it and it's to die for, even with the wasabi mayo they put on top making it a tad spicy. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I've been finding that sushi tastes better with brown rice as opposed to white rice. I love rice in general, but it just feels like brown rice makes everything in the sushi taste so much better for some reason.

I once had a sushi making party and people could pick their own ingredients, we had lots of veggies including pickled daikon radish (usually long and yellow in Asian market next to the kimchi), and fish like salmon tuna and shrimp. I don't really follow recipes I just put whatever I feel like in there

Homemade sushi at my... home would consist of luncheon meat (spam, or whatever you call your heavily-processed meat), cucumber strips, fried egg strips and Japanese yellow-pickle-carrot-thingy. The yellow-pickle-carrot-thingy can be used alone too, or even get a few slices and eat with white rice.

I know my mum tried to make sushi Way Back When (I was a kid), but I personally haven't tried yet. I'll have to be sure I can perfect the sushi rice before I find ways to add contents and roll sushi. chances are I'll try making onigiri first, those were my go-to when I was in Tokyo. Man I miss Tokyo...

We make sushi every year for New Years with my grandma. We make California rolls and Tuna rolls with shrimp powder, egg, motokomi (I think that’s what it’s called. It’s squash soaked in something idk what. XD), and we make ginger and hot mustard soy sauce and we have sashimi with it as well.

My family used to make homemade sushi quite a bit when my sister and I were younger, with eel (you can buy frozen eel at the supermarket, at least in Toronto) and fake crab. And avocado. It was delicious. My job was usually spreading the rice and cutting the rolls because I was the one with the ability to do it without ripping the seaweed/squishing the rolls too much

PalPlays you could stick to fully cooked sushi or vegetable sushi. A philly roll is smoked salmon and cream cheese (sometimes cucumber) and a California roll is avocado, cucumber, crab. There’s also tempura rolls and those aren’t raw. Shrimp is always cooked in the US.

I’ve also made sushi before, I think it’s the same kind Mal has made, but I also added slightly cooked chicken instead of raw fish in the sushi (mostly cause no one in my family will willingly eat raw fish) and it tasted amazing! Carrots and soft avocados are the next best thing in sushi. Just I always hold off on celery because it gives the sushi an unneeded crunch that just does not sit well.

@SlimSKim13
@SlimSKim13 5 жыл бұрын
There's two types of "regular" sushi: maki-sushi, which is in a roll, and nigiri-sushi, which is typically fish atop rice. Kimbap is, put simply, the "korean version" of maki-sushi: laver/seaweed on the outside, and rice on the inside. Differentiating it is typically the use of sesame oil in the rice: even with nothing inside, it could still be classified as kimbap.
