Dirtbikeizlife ----- Hmmmm you sound like a 14 teen old. Why are you so doubtful about 80 yr olds liking music from when they were younger. I am a young at heart almost 80 yrs old. I learned how to use the PC 20 yrs ago and received my first I pad 3 yrs ago from one of my 6 daughters. We had real music back when. So many songs these days are just noise to me. I just bought a black Tee shirt with a gold head Wolfe on front that reads " Don't throw me to the wolves, They Come When I Call" Live and let live ! Be positive and kind. Enjoy your lifestyle and I will mine. Meet you on the wild side of life. 😎 positive

Back in the 1970-1990s, I was the front man for our band the Rumblebugs (NE Kansas, south and west too). We played this song nearly every Gig. But!! 20 some years since playing it, I forgot how it goes, and so, I came here to refresh my memory on the chord progression LOL. I now have the song re-learned after about 8 minutes. The disappointment is that the key of E is too high for me now! I need to sing it in D or Eb, and the way the song relies on that heavy power chord E, well something will need to change. I might be able to pull off Eb and tune the guitar to a step below standard. It sucks getting old. In the past, I have played this song in many a Dive Bar, stoned, sober and drunk (but not all at the same time). We were a legend in our own minds. Freedy Johnston played drums for us 1987-88. Through out the 80s, Shaw Wilson played drums for us too, and he went on to play drums for BR549. We were just a small dance band. There were several band names for the Jim Lee Band; The Spiders, The Rumblebugs, The Soul-jers, Good Question, Scuzbucket, and the Tonganoxie Red Water Band.

Steppenwolf were from originally a band called the Sparrow in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. According to founder and lead singer John Kay they are actually Canadians who invited 2 Americans in Hollywood to join their new band Steppenwolf. John said "We got it together in a rehearsal space on Fountain Ave" in Hollywood California and the rest is history. Well Having seen them at Universal Amphitheatre in Studio City in the 1990's I can say they can really play ! The electronic equipment failed so John apologized and so they played all their classic stuff. It was incredible.

One reason this girl rocks is because this song rocks and it is so inspiring to me. I've been covering this song in various bands that I played bass in for about 30 years and it always was a huge hit with our audiences before I went solo. This song is still in my repertoire today as a musician who now playing lead guitar. And that is because I never get tired of playing it because it's such a fun song to play and sing. :)
