I wholeheartedly agree that abortion used outside of life and death situations is wrong and needs to end, however, trying to convince people through religion is the wrong way to go. Many people are letting go of religion these days (I did so many years ago and never looked back) for various reasons from being abused in the name of a god or gods (islam is the best example) to simply not being able to believe in something that makes absolutely no sense to them (my case, and yes I have been to sermons and read the bible). Telling people, especially leftists, that something is immoral "because god said so" is terrible reasoning (not saying the speaker here did but, many pro-life advocates do) because it isn't the least bit informative or nuanced. Abortion is wrong because it allows for the abandonment of responsibility, it's wrong because it punishes someone in a brutal and barbaric manner for a crime they didn't commit before they're born, it's wrong because it denies personhood to the unborn child and countless people who do and have fit the criteria pro-choice advocates have set up to defend their position and it's wrong because it devalues life as a whole. You might get more people to listen to your message and save more lives by putting down the bible for a second and thinking about what really makes abortion wrong because "god said so" isn't it.
