Stereo System Install In the 2g Eclipse Project Car / Budget Build

In today's video we finally install an aftermarket stereo system in our 2g eclipse dsm project car / budget build series. It was a wiring mess, but with a wiring diagram (at the end, so watch til then for the diagram) and some patience, we figured the installation out, how to get it working, and sounding great!

There should be two separate power wires to the unit… one for constant power for presets and clock, the other for key on functionality

I bought a 97 eclipse. Decided to add a sub. Pull the radio and see bare wires fuckin every.

I am getting ready to do the same thing im kinda nervous cause it seems easy to mess up. also I don't quite understand how the aftermarket one mounts in the screw holes dont seem to match but maybe when i actually take the plates off the radio thats in it i will see how it works. cant take them off right now cause the screw holding the plate on one side is stripped so i gotta get the screw out first. then i just need to do the wires and it should be good to go

Jacob S it’s not too bad, it was my first time and it went ok. I didn’t mount mine at all it’s just laying there tho so I didn’t have that issue lol 😆 but the wiring is pretty straight forward with the diagram I put at the end of the video

@@DebtLife_Projects hey, I was looking at the wiring for the head unit currently in my car and on the ignition wire there is a 5 amp fuse wired in, what does that mean? do I just cut it out so it can be 12?

Jacob S 5 amp is what most people use so I’d leave it there. Unless you have a powerfull system with high output, then might need a 10 amp. But 5 should be fine, worst case try it and see if it blows the fuse or not. But a lot of people use a 5 amp fuse there and it works good.

@@DebtLife_Projects what does it do? I am not knowledgeable with electricity i don't know too much about amps and volts and watts but when I was typing the comment I realized fuses are amps and the 12 required is 12 volts.

Must be an eclipse owner thing. I've own 3 eclipse and all the harness was like cut and attached directly like this. Why not just buy the adapter instead of cutting the factory harness?

Mine didn’t have anything in there to begin with, just wires everywhere. So I woulda had to wire in the adapter anyways lol. If it had the factory plug, that’s what I would have done for sure.

Yes! I hate that people do this shit. It's literally a what $15 plug at the most? Plus, you can sit down at a table or work bench and wire it up instead of trying to soldier all the wires in the car with limited space. It makes zero sense to me.
