I have an SX 3800 and it was the nicest unit back in the day. I think I'm going to take it out of it's home and have it recapped and set it up again. Thanks for the excitement they are great receivers.

i think i could live all my life by using the sx-1980 ,but i have a lot more, i colect hi-fi components all my life since late 60´s but i own a late 50´s early 60´s complete system in mono from my grandfather, the one who passed to me this sickness(healthy one),i always have the loudness on, maybe a bit of treble or bass depending on the record

5:04 Ok this entire sequence with the cameraman wrenching and snapping each knob and switch really triggered me.

didn't like that either

Great demo with Bob Marley music. I once owned a Pioneer receiver. it was a less Powerful model. The sound of Pioneer was always classified as having tight bass and crispy treble. NICE!

I just bought my old Sansui G9000 back it's very comparable to your 1250 but I'm not even going to plug it in it's going straight to the shop for service and or rebuild.

in the 90´s i also bought some three ways huge cerwin vegas with high quality finishings cost me at the time 1.000€´s each speaker ,and tested them with my SX-1980 but went to my new Nakamichi system ,what´s funny is all the ones i knew that were hi-fi enthusiasts all said to do not buy them ,what happened is that i had the best sound at home compared to my friends weird brands systems, audiophiles?!it´s a sickness if it sounds strange and it´s expensive they buy it ,than when in my house "what a sound!!!"

I wish you went with the soft white or warm led lights. I think it would look a lot better. Just my opinion. I'm sure I'll get flamed for it🔥😃.

You are choking the Vegas with that thin wire, get at least 12 gouge wire on those babies
@eemgee91853 жыл бұрын
oddly enough, it sounds fine. I thought the same thing when I saw that "lamp cord" (what the performer that works for audioquest refers to them when he's evangelizing the spectators at the hifi show). If it were my set of cerwin's, I would use better wire for sure. 12ga, 5ft, nylon covered, banana plugs preinstalled and soldered on, $30.
@edithboozy10002 жыл бұрын
Ya no buddy. Thats not how electricity works. This setup is perfectly fine with 16awg. Learn a bit more before you give out bad advice.

@@edithboozy1000 depending on length of wire with low impedance and the current you plan to push along with back EMF you could be starving the low end drivers causing them to choke: fact

they say the sx-1250 sounds better
@blackwaterdogs42562 жыл бұрын
Techs who work on these for a living seem to agree that the 50-series is built better than the 80-series, i.e., more "over-built", with heavier heat sinks and direct, point-to-point wiring, which resists heat better when pushed hard. Pioneer started cutting corners with build quality on the 80-series.
