"Hurry Up And Wait" was a common military joke in e.g. WW2 - i.e ordered promptly to point X at all speed and then sat days on your ars* wondering what the fuss was about. Thus "hurry up and wait". I hope some of you get a refrerence :) I love the stereophonics. One of lifes best bands but sadly underated. I was listening to this album over christmas - ... I kept going back to track 1 of this album, not the new stuff I had just got. It's just so brilliant. If KJ or the rest of them got into showbiz to make people happy years later walking thoughtfully through their home town ... you won :)

the " take a little something " lyrics bit is pretty bang on - doing shitty jobs when you're young is just a crap part of life that most of us go through , think kelly j worked on a market stall or sim - phonics are quite a relatable band , i like that their are little stories behind most of the tracks ( especially on word gets around ) really cool band

I agree this is their best, but only just. They've so many great songs. The rhythm guitar in this is really nice and Kelly's vocal of course. Love the vid too. Awesome band.

This song always makes me think of when I was a kid back in the 80s and I was shouting at my brother to hurry up and wait for me :) RIP Stu, we'll miss you :(

This song makes me think of the turn of the century when my girlfriend and I broke up after 5 years (she was actually Welsh), and my twin brother died in a car accident. I went into a deep depression and isolated myself from everybody for a couple years. I spent that time in my new, crappy little apartment teaching myself graphic design. Stereophonics (especially this album) was one of my go-to CDs I'd put on my stereo and have playing behind me as I sat at my computer for hours every day. Wow, it's been 11 years since you posted this. I wonder what you and others here are doing nowadays. Time flies.
