Not only did he run world class routes and had golden hands, he was also a very tough, tough man. True competitor Hall Of Fame for sure. Kenny Easley had his career cut short big time but he’s in the hall. Sterling should be as well.

My all-time favorite Packer. The only legit weapon in the offense for years, everyone knew he was the target, yet he still broke records and opposing db hearts everywhere. Anyone remember the series where he lined up under center for a couple of plays, long before the wildcat was a thing? Nothing much happened (hmm, just like modern wildcat), but it was a fun surprise. I remember people even talking about strapping him into bigger pads and moving him to RB after his injury - that's how essential he was to the team. Gotta love the one clip where Favre lands on his left shoulder, gets up favoring that shoulder, and Kenny Ruettgers "helps" him but yanking him the rest of the way up... by his left shoulder.

Sterling was the 2nd best WR of the late 80s and early 90s before his injury that ended his career. If Sterling had played with Favre in his prime, we are talking about perhaps the best WR during that stretch along with Rice at the top. I believe Sterling had Favre for one season when he was just hitting his peak, and he put up incredible numbers. His 5 year stretch was as good as any WRs in their prime. He deserves to be in the HOF. I doubt any real football fan would disagree with that.

The first football memory I have is the Packers beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl, so I never got to watch Sterling play. Man, the numbers he would have accumulated if not for the injury. They can put Terrell Davis in the Hall despite having a short career, but not him? Doesn't seem right.
@Joseph-lz5er6 жыл бұрын
His prime 5 years matches up against any HOF WR's prime 5 years. 5 Pro Bowl and 3 All Pro selections, enough said. It is about time they elect Sterling to the HOF.

When I think about it, this is the only wide out even close to Jerry Rice in being a perfect receiver. Route running, catching, football speed, clutch, humble. Moss could only go deep. T.O was the furthest thing from humble. Rice and Sharpe would stand alone if he was never injured.

Just looking at his numbers, this guy should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, period. I just compare him to Michael Irvin and realize quite quickly that Sharpe did more than Irvin did while Sharpe was playing. He had more yards, more touchdowns, and more yards per game. Sharpe should be in the hall of fame, and he would be right now if he didn't get that neck injury. I never got to watch him unfortunately as my life began six years after his last game, but I can still watch these videos and look at his stats on pro-football reference and appreciate how great Sterling Sharpe was.

Being a Chicago bears fan I couldn't this guy, but I give credit where it is do. In a shortened career he put up some remarkable numbers. If he would've kept playing he would've probably held every receiving record until Moss and T.O. came along. Easily one of the best wide receivers to every play that people forget about. His brother Shannon is in the Hall of fame. I believe he belongs there as well. 5 pro bowls in a 7 year career. Packers would've won multiple super bowls if this guy stay healthy. Should be in the Hall

The last truly elite receiver the Packers had. I know Rice has all the numbers, but I'd take a healthy Sterling any day. Rice had the benefit of always having superior teammates around him. Sterling never had anything remotely close to that. (Favre was to young at that point.) Sure miss him.

2:44 Hilarious play. Sharpe thought he was in the end zone and was trying to hand the ball to the official. The condition of the field was so terrible he could tell where he was at. If he had not been hit from behind and had been forced to fumble, he would have tossed the ball to the official out of bounds which would have been a touchback and loss of possession.
