I've only been aware of your work the past two years. But I really connect with it, such a breath of fresh air in a world where surfing has become so serious. Love your humour and you honestly get me so hyped to surf and live life without taking it too seriously. You know da rulez 💚.
@gophukyurselvs3621 Жыл бұрын
So serious? Surfing is less serious than ever 😂 please elaborate
@FromTheMosh Жыл бұрын
@@gophukyurselvs3621 The surf population all over the world has more than doubled in the past 20 years, creating a more competitive nature out in the lineup when it used to be so chill. Premium surf spots are packed to capacity as everyone has knowledge of decent waves now. Professional surfing has become more of a sport body where now there are training athletes at peak fitness as now a lot more money is involved. Everyone used to chill and party on the world surf tour. I could go on forever about how surfing has become more serious.

So cool to hear a story from someone who had it all living the dream as a pro surfer to find the pure escaping feeling of surfing again in his life for me and I feel like a lot of other people surfing is the thing we turned too but for someone who was able to live off of surfing to then truly find the love in it once again is a cool story 🤙

Great story. Eventually it all comes back to enjoying the ocean. Your podcast helped me realize surfing, bodyboarding, body surfing, paddle board surfing...the oceam was missing from my life after growing up learning to love it respect it. So I make regular trips to Cocoa Beach to re-create your famous victory. Give me merch to buy and I'll do it to support you and your cousin.

pretty amazing how much better his content is, still holds up compared to what is out today. the bit with him and occy starting at each other, or him popping out the back of the wave frozen... such good stuff. makes the current KZbin guys seem kinda lame when it comes to creative content (ignoring massive jaws footage and the like).

This brought back so many good memories. I loved following you back in the day with the blog, social media and videos as you blended this creative wes anderson like film/storytelling style, while also showcasing some awesome surfing and nods to the Surfers/Shapers who influenced surfing up to that point in time. Thank you for creating, surfing and sharing it with the rest of us Sterling!

I relate to surf culture 100%.. Raised on the north shore. Crashing pro surfer house parties in highschool were awesome adventures..eating acid, hanging out on the wall at ehukai with friends into the night, dodging cops..skateboards, surfboards..bball at sunset elementary School. The night sublime came to rocky point house party..holy shit. Turtle bay lift shop for liquor haha. Sterling Spencer getting my nostalgia triggered haha..love it.

I will learned over the years this that wealth is not the state of your bank account It’s a state of mind And you just reaffirmed that I’m not a rich man but I did acquire a 2005 centurion Enzo, and that 51 years old took up the sport of wake surfing. And riding the wave is one hell of an experience 🏄♂️

Just when surfing wants to be taken all serious...along comes Sterling to just burst their bubbles...i can only imagine how many industry heads and pros get their wetsuits in a bunch over alot of his content... it's like WSL 's ego is a big giant proud balloon and Sterling walks by with a big pin and without hesitation just pops the thing in front of the entire surf world and non chalantly keeps going 😂

Really rad short! Sterling is hilarious and really genuine. My question if I could follow up is does he like to make creative content anymore (i.e. films)? Like surfing, it seems like it was a genuine passion and I wonder if there is still a desire to pursue those creative outlets, even if they never get published or shared with the rest of us.
