If its sunblock its main base is usually titanium dioxide (its what gives it that white color) and thats not toxic. It just reflects and scatters the rays, making you less likely to burn. Its the safer of the two. Sunscreens absorb into the skin and then absorbs the rays instead of your skin absorbing the rays and damaging your DNA. So while its not ideal in massive quantities over decades, its better than skin cancer which can go undetected and spread throughout your entire body. (By the way people dont use nearly enough sunscreen to properly protect their skin but feel like they have enough on and spend more time in the direct sun). I say this because its important for people to use sun protection, ( hats, sunblocks, sunscreens, uv tint on windows, avoidance of prolonged direct sunlight. etc.) and not to not be afraid of "potential risk" vs actual life threatening risk. Source: im an aesthetician with years of interest in the skin, its functions and its health. Stay beautiful.
