I guess he wanted to be ready to cast off the next morning. Tides run fast here.

New Smyrna Beach? I cannot think of another Florida town with NSB.

I commented before reading the others. I see the mystery has been solved prior to my arrival. I’ll see myself out.

Nice moves. This is called a ferry maneuver. Using the current resistance to slowly angle into a spot.

New Smyrna Beach?

Apparently so. Just never heard it abbreviated like that. Good to learn something everyday. 👍🏼

Why not spin around an approach with your bow ? Looks like plenty of room.
@AdventuresofHappyOurs2 күн бұрын
It’s often easier and safer to back into current to a dock. It helps keep your bow straight. Bow in will force boat into dock.

@@AdventuresofHappyOursI’ve got a single screw 34’ trawler. I’m just in awe of this guy’s ability to get it to go straight in astern. It makes a graceful turn to port whilst in astern… I have bow and stern thrusters, so could do it. But if he’s backing into the tide my preferred option would be to enter in ahead using the tide to slow me in a ferry gliding motion. Same aspect for pulling away from the dock, just in and out of gear and move off sideways. That’s taking nothing away from what we’re watching as a great piece of boat handling.

I assume he is docking this way to be ready to go the next morning when the tide may be more difficult?
@AdventuresofHappyOursКүн бұрын
@@PhilbyFavourites with a single that would be more difficult. I assume he has twins on that boat.
