What a beautiful bike! I saw my first airplane engine (also a 9 cylinder) just a week ago, and I couldn't believe that someone fitted that into a bike. Congratulations! I hope it rides reasonably well and it gives you lots of km of great rides :)

I can't believe such a small propeller can pull that huge bike
@sylvialollie34999 жыл бұрын
+Michael Schuler watch closely: at min 2:05 you can see a chain going from the engine to the rear axle... the propeller is just for fun or maybe for cooling the engine...
@cyberpunkshadow34099 жыл бұрын
+Sylvia Lollie While I value that you very politely pointed out the inner workings of this engine, I would also like to politely point out that the person you responded to was being sarcastic. :)

+Michael Schuler YES put bigger propel, more horsepower!!!!
@TerryMcKean9 жыл бұрын
+Sylvia Lollie ...true...I do believe that the bearing on the shaft holding the prop has centrifugal properties, and at a certain RPM, higher than the idling RPM, the prop gets held securely and whips cooling air through all those cylinders....for safety, the prop free-spins on the shaft at idling speed.

I guess the meager power output is due to the fact that this type of engine has actually been designed to be used in WWI-fighter plane replicas and therefore has fitting specs for the era; the bike is obviously styled on Von Richthofen's famous Fokker Triplane, too.

I know that the Germans invented the Motorcycle in 1885 by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, the World's first practical all-metal aircraft: Junkers J 1 in 1915, but putting a Rotec Radial R3600 aircraft engine (notably has been used in the Fokker Triplane) on a bike?! This is the true Red Baron of motorcycle!

It's also old technology and why the airplane engines do not still use this design today. 150 horses back when this was state of the art was pretty good.

Im not talking about torque steering. im talking about the sudden acceleration of the engine (only longways mounted in cars) causing the actual car to lean a bit to the side. did it on my dads old buick.
@Arcona11 жыл бұрын
yeah. on big long mounted engines in cars it makes the car turn a bit when you rev it. surprised the bike didn't turn a bit when he started revving it... then again it probably doesn't have a big heavy flywheel like a normal engine
