This was one of harder songs I’ve done. I can always count on Österreich to have beautiful melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, but this song took it up a notch lmao. I hope you enjoy my translation! Kunimitsu Takahashi wrote a small note for this song. He talked about how it was written during the same time he wrote Swandivemori. That the song process itself was difficult and he spent so much time on the melody that the other vocalist was upset he was taking so long. He wanted to do something he hadn’t tried before which can be reflected in the rhythm patterns. He would describe this song as a darker “A whole new world” from Aladdin.

After analysing it thouroughly Ive come to the conclusion that the song is about someone witnessing a loved ones death. He describes the life being cut short without meaning in the first verse. And in the second verse he describes the exact situation of the death and the process of them dying from a first person perspective. They died on a beach alone, only the sand witnessing what happened and he describe their heartbeat getting slower on the way to the hospital. In the end the person will always search for the meaning in that death, not getting the answers no matter what happens. This is just the short version since i dont wanna write an essay today.

Nice work! Do you think you'll translate「斜陽」by cinema staff, considering its written and composed by Kunimitsu? I was always interested in what it meant especially correlating to its MV. PS I really hope that if Choujin X ever gets adapted to anime, Ishida is gonna chose Kunimitsu again to do some OSTs (considering they seem like friends rn)
