99.9% of all news stations would’ve just skipped over saying the word Rapeman. Although it wasn’t the greatest of band name choices, the band meant a lot to me and it means a lot to me that in this case the band name wasn’t just omitted.

To his credit he acquired a lot of knowledge relating to the craft of recording music and he shared that knowledge and passed it on. He also had an entrepreneurial streak as a studio owner providing an analog recording service. A gap in the market that also aligned with his own aesthetic approach to music. In this sense he was able to support and satisfy himself and satisfy and serve others. That's an aspect of him that I salute.

Gone too soon. Genius recording (and mastering) engineer. Listening to Shellac's 1000 Hurts right now, whose pinpoint focused and confrontational guitar sound is *still* a watermark. He did a lot of great work for other people and on his own, but this remains my favorite. Prayer to God kept me out of trouble at least once. Rest Peacefully.

I've been a fan of Albini's music before Nirvana turned up on the scene. Without him and many of the other underground bands of that time, Killdozer, Scratch Acid, Butthole Surfers, Rifle Sport, etc. there would have been no "grunge" scene. They were the first and unfortunately Nirvana came along and ruined the whole thing with their major label deal. Then everyone was scrambling to attempt to vacuum up the next big thing, so everyone either went mainstream or broke up...

Un tipo insobornable. Diferenciaba la industria por lo económico. Es un criterio objetivo. Trabajaba con sus tarifas para cualquier banda. Daba igual quien fuera. Poner micrófonos y trabajar en la mesa vestido de obrero, era como desastascar tuberías, o arreglar electrodomésticos. Un obrero de la música. Una forma de estar en el mundo muy diferente a la que domina. Atmósferas frías, huérfanas, desarraigadas en "In Utero" y "Surfer Rosa". "Walking into Walksdale", con Page y Plant. RIP.

awesome, not a legend in my world the dude is way to famous for a guy who is allegedly a producer who doesn’t want his style stamp on an album. therefore call yourself an engineer and engineer the recording with your professional training & capture the music in it’s purest form. People do it all the time & they are not talking heads doing countless interviews about how they are soooo different & so not the industry.
