She was just infatuated with Steve. She was drunk on his presence, addicted to his aura. This was a woman who found her soulmate, the other half of her heart and when he was taken away from her, she never truly recovered. Even today when you bring up his name in conversation, it makes the poor lass sick with grief. I don't think very many people have experienced a love for someone like Terri felt for Steve. :(

I remember meeting Steve and Terri multiple times when I lived not too far from Australia Zoo. He knew my name and sometimes took me into his office and let me pet some baby animals. He was so gentle with kids. I went to the zoo almost every day just to see Steve and Terri. I remember (I was only 6 so I wasn’t aloud to watch the news) going to the zoo a couple weeks after he had passed not knowing. Terri came and hugged me and told me that Steve was in a special place called heaven where he could have an even bigger zoo. At the time I didn’t get what she meant, was there a place in the zoo called heaven? After she explained, I cried with her and she took me around the zoo with Bindi so that I could pet the kangaroos and hold some snakes. Steve was my biggest inspiration since I was little, and he always will be. Thanks to him, I have grown up to appreciate animals and now own 2 snakes because my fondest memories of him was when he let me wrap a snake around my neck and told me to kiss it. Thankyou Steve for teaching me how to appreciate animals. I still visit the zoo sometimes but it isn’t really the same. I haven’t seen Steve’s old office since he passed, and Terri hasn’t shown me around the zoo, I just walk around by myself. I don’t blame Terri, because it was usually Steve that showed me around the zoo. You will be forever in my heart, you truly changed my life, Thankyou Steve. x

He was so in tune with animals behaviour.we needed Steve to push forward the fight to save the species affected by environmental development. it’s so sad he is not here with us now. freak accidents take out the animal conservationists every now and then. But this was a loss on a global scale. He cared for all, no matter the location.

I was born in Peru but my love for animals came from my dad always watching documentaries,I grew up watching national geographic and animal planet,I was the odd kid with random animal facts and quizzing my classmates about capybaras ,seen steve show a couple of times but never really stuck with me, but now I wish I seen more,watching a lot of his stuff now,I live in HK now but for sure if I ever go to australia,the zoo will be my first stop, they seem great people you want to be friends with,now that im older, I feel sad I never got to meet him, he seemed so much fun to be around!

one a legend always a legend .. I remember being 1 and watching him .. I was barely 2 when he passed . I know God had a plan for him .. I miss him everyday I loved him with my whole heart But I see his personality through his children everyday it’s like he literally transferred his enthusiasm and passion to his children .. me and Robert are the same age and to me he seems way more mature .
