He was my first Tap teacher. When I was 9 my father was directing a production of “Sugar” in LA (1984) and Steve & Lorraine lived in a unit near us at the old Landmark Hotel. My brother & I used to get impromptu tap lessons every time we visited w them. We loved them. What a talent🤍kind souls

@@zanzer386 Congrats on your dad. He is amazing, and you should be so proud of your family tree. My DNA test just confirmed I am your 4th-6th cousin.

Holy Smokes! - 68, and not even breaking a sweat! I had the honor to learn from him for a short period of time and I still teach his rudiments. I finally put a board in my office and try to practice at least 15 minutes a day. It may not sound like a lot, but consistency is the key. (See the book, Atomic Habits).

2:02 - his signature high-speed heel taps. Amazing that I got to watch him dance like this in private lessons 3 Summers between 7 and 11 years old.

2:57 - and those syncopations... GRRR, frustrating how effortless he makes it seem. God love you, Steve. Such a wonderfully sweet and generous man. Can't wait to dance with you again in Heaven.

Aw, he is wonderful and I’m sure you miss him so much! I saw your comment on another tap exercise video and came straight to look up your dad. I enjoyed this video of his amazing tapping and it inspired me to practice again (I’m middle aged and only took a one semester class with my daughter and it kicked my butt but was so fun!). As an occupational therapy practitioner, I agree that you are absolutely correct in saying that it is great for many types of recovery and addressing functional deficits. You’ll definitely be creating new neural pathways and challenging bilateral coordination while strengthening heart, lungs and muscles of the body. I wish it was a more popular exercise/intervention (easier to access).
