Actor, comedian, screenwriter. Steve Coogan is a man of many talents.
But he's probably still best known for playing a role he created more than 30 years ago, the socially awkward, politically incorrect broadcaster Alan Partridge. Coogan is currently taking the character on a nationwide tour.
He spoke to Scotland Tonight about his career so far.

What a good sport he is - conducting the entire interview with the sun in his eyes.

Well you can't blame the interviewer. The sun hadn't been seen in Scotland for decades up until that point.

It's always fascinating to watch comedic actors in interview and spot the mannerisms and verbal tics that actually part of them rather than inventions for their characters.

No matter his political alignment, after he attacked Morgan and the Cheap thrill printed media l have always had respect for him and if he decided to live in Scotland he would be welcome with open arms.

Alan is still around because he is still well written and funny.. a skill notably absent from a lot of what I see on TV lately.

I've always thought AP is so brilliant because Steve is really playing himself to an extent, which he appears to admit here, and which would explain his public hard left persona...the latter is far more of an act.

This guy clearly has no future in comedy, however, as a generic Labour supporting, British not English man, against Scottish separation in 2014, but not a few years later, he may just be one of the great political thinkers of our time.
