I was born and raised in the West Virginia coal country with grandfather and father and many other family members in the mines. Emotions evoked from the hollers to the hills to the misty mountaintops to the silent coal towns slowly decomposing into the earth are evoked in this album. Time ran out for John Henry Long, Ivan Thompson, Jock Carney, Mark Southern and so many others. Thank you Steve.

New Steve Earle music is like new slippers.. you have that moment of trepidation and in about two minutes they’re the best thing ever and they feel like an old friend

Watched his KZbin concert yesterday . I know he was mentored by Guy and Townes and i love them both but i feel Steve is as good and can mentioned in the same breath as those two
