Fantastic quality, and a great introduction by Steve. It's sad that the Labour movement and the environmental movement seem to have such disparate aims at times. Only a unified people can stand against the juggernaut of capital.

kmb117 Unified people could heal so many of this worlds tragic ills. And unified people are the greatest enemy of the greedy and evil elite. So they do everything possible to keep us all at odds with one another.

Holy FUUUUCK, it;s Walon from the wire. I recently started getting into bluegrass and a lot of people covering this song, never thought it was him, what a surprise.

I grew up in a defunct mine town in Pennsylvania, there is nothing there now, just houses and old buildings. My dad brother pap and uncle all worked at the mill a few miles away, that closed too, in the last year. One day about a year ago, a man came from a company who wanted to lease the mineral rights below my father's property, and also everyone else in a five mile radius. Everyone signed those papers and gets five hundred per acre, per year. That's a rip off, I told my dad to organize with the rest of the street, they should get more, more often, and never have to pay to heat their homes ever again. Those companies are making billions well the people who live there have to work at Wal-Mart, because there is no industry

Love the song and Steve but the only time I've ever lost a job in my life I was a member of a union. The union didn't save my job but they took their union dues out of last check.

Kinda shitty to post that. I love Ben Tod's version but Earle wrote the words and created the original, and it's quite good. I'm sure Ben Tod thinks so as well.
