He speaks like someone who has never read a Bill of Materials for any manufactured products. Higher tariffs on Chinese imports would materially increase inflation, particularly in key drivers of the last CPI reading: New building construction and used car repair. Both rely extensively on Chinese parts & materials.

I think the average American, given the already high rates of inflation, would opt to at least get the benefits of more domestic production out of it.

Low and middle class Americans are struggling to stay afloat. It does not matter who the ruling party is at the time of high interest, high inflation, high housing costs, high food costs to name a few, voters are going to vote for the other side during elections.

Not true. Trump will crash the economy by imposing tariffs that we the end user would end up paying and by bullying the Fed Reserve into lowering interest rates to zero for him and his rich friends to make more money on their stocks. These two things combined will create another crises. He initially caused the current inflation through his GROSS mismanagement of Covid, forcing Biden to have to clean that mess up! Educate yourself please.

It's really not when 60-65% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, personal debt at all time highs, and retirement savings rates at record lows. Millions of people are struggling to survive in the US right now. Every election is about the economy everything else is just fluff.

@@dweller6065 The trouble is that the Democrats came in and promised a better economy under Biden, national unity, and a culture of law and order. Instead, we have had catastrophic inflation, record deficits, massive waves of layoffs of high-wage jobs (while the government brags about low wage job creation), tremendous stress on local governments to accommodate a massive unsustainable migration wave, and chaotic lawless antisemitic violence in our universities. That Trump is even competitive speaks to the absolutely dismal performance of the Biden administration across the board. The Dems are lucky that Haley didn't win the GOP primary, because if she had, she'd have an easy win.
@Sl1pstreams
@Sl1pstreams 23 күн бұрын
As James Carville noted decades ago, "it's the economy." Record inflation, record deficits, and massive layoffs of high wage workers = bad news for incumbents. Bragging about the creation of legions of low-wage part time jobs ro replace the six figure jobs being demolished by the millions is not a winning strategy. People will vote for whoever the alternative is; Biden blew it.
